For Gemma Dupont – Please care, and share. Thank you.

Earlier this year, I met Gemma Dupont, who is a part of my Word Press blogging family, as well as a fellow aspiring author.  Enthusiastic, bright and bubbly; her motto has always been… caring is sharing.

All us aspiring writers dream about seeing our work in print.  We all want to get our stories heard.  We work so hard, fitting in hours of Writing often through the night, editing, and hoping, whilst holding down full-time jobs.

Gemma has helped many of us in the writing community, by sharing our work through the WordPress Bloggers Promotions For Writers and Authors Group page she set up a couple of years ago, and now, I would like to help her.

Gemma very recently finished writing her memoir, Perpetual Helix, all bar one final, professional edit.  She is so close, yet so far away from achieving her dream to see it in print.

Whatever our chosen path in life, being hit by a devastating illness is the cruellest twist of fate, especially when it threatens to cut short the amount of time you have left to realise your dream.  This week, Gemma has received a truly devastating diagnosis.  Stage 4 lung and brain cancer.

Yesterday Gemma published a heart-rendering post on her website entitled, My Dying Legacy, which says it all.  I already knew about the diagnosis, but it hadn’t really sunk in until I read that piece. I thought maybe we, the Writing Community, could help.  As well as others who will, hopefully, follow the links here and read snapshots of Gemma’s writing that she’s invested so much of her time in, with the aim of helping achieve her dream of seeing Perpetual Helix in print.

Perpetual Helix is a memoir, a true story, and it is not an easy read.  It is not a story for the faint-hearted as it involves both narcissistic and sexual abuse.  It is a story that should be heard and, it has always been Gemma’s intention for Perpetual Helix to help those who have suffered from serious trauma and to help them overcome their pain.

Gemma urgently needs an editor who would be willing to get the manuscript to the stage where Gemma can, at least, self-publish, as a legacy for her partner and her children.

Please show that you care, by following the links to Gemma pages and sharing them. If you know anybody would be in a position to edit Perpetual Helix a.s.a.p, please contact Gemma, she would love to hear from you.
