My first mistake

Tags: noah mistake

Us mothers have one duty in life, and that is to protect our children from any kind of harm. However we also make mistakes. So far I think I've done a good job with protecting Noah, however yesterday I made my first mistake as well, and it has seemed to hurt me more than my boy.

I was sitting in our garden, with Noah in my lap enjoying the hot summer day. I was cutting his nails with the baby scissor, and I had 2 more nails left to cut. I went for the pinky when Noah moved his hand just as I cut, so I got his skin. Blood started pouring out and Noah screams out in pain. My heart breaks and I try everything to calm him down. My dad comes and helps me out because I naturally broke down in tears as well. It just would not stop, it is amazing how much blood can come from such a small finger. I've been warned to not put bandaids on his hand, but I've never seen him put his pinky in his mouth, so I put a bandaid on anyway, which eventually stopped the bleeding, and I had an extra eye on him for as long as it was on. Noah has not showed any sign of pain since the accident but I'm still a bit shook up about it. He has a little mark on his pinky now.

It is my job to protect Noah and I should not be the one to cause his first injury but apparently its more often a parent who accidentally causes their child's first pain than anyone else. But like his daddy said when I told him what happened, Noah is a tough little man, and I know it is just the beginning of many mistakes and injuries, so I guess I'll just have to get used to it.

Here's a photo moments before I started cutting his nails. One of my new favourite photos. Noah and his bunny friend Polly
