According to Tineke Ganz-Malan, a Western Cape provincial government health official, it is rare to have identical twins who both have the condition. Fowzia and Fatima Fillies are a one-in-a-million set of identical twins with Down Syndrome. Source: Daily Voice Speaking to Daily Voice, Ganz-Malan said: "Internationally, there is a one to two in a million chance that a set of identical twins with Down Syndrome will be born. Here in the Western Cape, Fatima and Fowzia are the only ones I know of." The girls' mom, 46-year-old Mymoena Williams-Fillies, said her adorable daughters have brought untold joy to her life. However, the proud parents had to learn to be patient with the girls, who Mymoena said can be demanding at times. Nevertheless, she said the twins have bright smiles and love each other. She also has a nickname for them borne out of their vivacious personalities - "little firecrackers.
