When you take a photo on your phone, it’s automatically stored in full resolution. This can quickly fill up your phone’s storage, especially if you have a lot of photos. Back in November 2020, Google announced changes to its High-quality Storage policy for Photos. Google will no longer offer free uploads in High Quality on June 1st, 2021. Google recently introduced a new functionality that allows you to review and delete blurry photos, screenshots, and large files. Photos backed up after June 1, 2021 will be considered insufficient to meet the 15GB limit for free Google account storage. You will continue to be able to save all previous backups for free until that date. Google will begin counting your newly uploaded content in any quality toward your account storage beginning June 1, 2021.
