Experiencing the world of ‘House of Naari’

Someone has said that “A woman’s beauty is enhanced in ethnic wear”. I am not sure if this is completely true or not, but  yes, I do agree that we all look very pretty in ethnic wear and there is an immense scope of experimenting when it comes to ethnic wear.

There are an umpty number of brands and designers who work very hard to create beautiful ethnic designs for the modern women. They are always putting in their best efforts to retain the age-old traditional art and experiment with it to come up with innovative and unique creations suitable to everyone’s taste.

Amongst all of these, there is one brand who is dedicatedly creating unique ethnic wear designs for the modern women and they have gained a lot of popularity and appreciation amongst the consumers in a lesser time. This brand is called ‘House of Naari’.

House of Naari has a bouquet of choices available for you to take care of your ethnic wear woes. Whether you want it for your daily wear, office wear or party wear. You name it and they have it for you. You will also be amazed to know that long before Naari was born, they have been supplying fabric to leading brands like Zara, Vero Moda, H & M, etc.

I was overwhelmed when I got an invitation for a bloggers meet from ‘House of Naari’. I immediately agreed and was very excited about the meet. The meet involved a visit to the factory of ‘House of Naari’ and experience their day-to-day activities, the way they create their designs, the way they work on them, the way they bring the designs alive and experience all that happens ‘behind the scenes’.

Read on to know all about my visit to the factory of ‘House of Naari’ and check out what all I did.

The factory is spread across an area of 5 acres at Tarapur, near Mumbai. We took a train to reach the location and the journey was short and sweet. Soon we reached the factory and we were welcomed with a yummy breakfast. After the breakfast, we joined the hosts at the conference hall where the CEO of Naari, Mr. Arjun Ahuja welcomed us and gave us some insights about the brand and their journey. After this, the head designer of Naari, Ms. Fatema took us through the beautiful a` la mode world of Naari. When asked her about what is her inspiration while creating the unique designs, she said, “We follow the seasons and always strive to come up with innovative designs that are apt for the season.” Then, she introduced us to their new collection and I was nothing but ecstatic to witness all the creativity and fun designs.

Here are the details of the collection of ‘House of Naari’.

** Rabadi collection – This collection is inspired by the folk art of Gujarat and they have very beautifully utilized the traditional art to create modern yet elegant designs.

** Madhubani collection – This collection is based on the folk art of Madhubani district in Bihar, which is famous for their “Madhubani” style of paintings.

** Tree of Life – An innovative and cool collection. This collection is all about intricate details of trees, birds, flowers, delicate tendrils. Some of the designs also have ombre colour schemes which add to the beauty of this collection.

** Crush kurtis – I must say these are really pretty and confortable. Very versatile and elegant kurtis that you can dress up or down basis the occasion.

** Casuals collection – A huge collection of casual wear which includes kurtis (short & long), pants, leggings, scarves, etc.

**Bags – Oh, I just loved the collection. (I really wish, I could just steal some of them. Hehe. :) ). You are sure to fall in love with Naari’s collection of bags. They have sling bags, totes, shoulder bags and they all are so unique and adorable.

After witnessing all the colourful and beautiful creations, it was time to experience the way these creations are made. We happily went for the tour of the factory and I was more than amazed looking at the dedication and hard work that goes behind the splendid creations.

Let me take you through the process that is followed by Naari team to make their designs. First, a designer creates different designs by hand (literally on a piece of paper). Once these designs are finalized, these same designs are created in a computer by the technical team. After this, a set of engineers patiently create the details and technicalities of the designs. This literally includes designing the layout, which design should be done first, which designs are to be done in succession, what is the sequence of the thread movements so as to arrive at the desired design (Sigh! so much work and so difficult). Once all this is done, the designs and the path is put up on a computer software which is attached to the machinery. The machinery then runs the required program and creates the design on the cloth.

I must say that the factory is equipped with State-of-the-Art machines from different countries like Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea and Taiwan besides India. The textile processing capacity is of over one million meters per month. And, the embroidery capacity of these machines is half a million meters or 300 million stitches per month. (Woah! That’s definitely impressive).

These are the bobbins that are used in the machinery

Naari believes in creating their designs from scratch and they literally make everything from scratch. Even the sequins used for the designs are made in the factory. And yes, Naari also believes in women empowerment and have a lot of female employees working with them. :)

Here are the photos of the machinery at Naari’s factory. It was very fascinating to see the machines in action and witness how they create designs over a huge piece of cloth in a matter of minutes. (I just loved watching this).

Once the designs are created, each fabric goes through a stringent quality check process. At this stage, the fabric is tested for 10 parameters including color consistency, design consistency, fabric tension, etc. When the fabric is approved, it goes ahead for packaging and stitching.

I also had a chat with the CEO, Mr. Arjun Ahuja. I must say he is a fun person to talk to and is filled with great ardor and zeal for his work. He knows every detail about the work that happens and his work is very close to his heart (I guess, this is what makes a difference in the designs of Naari :) ).

I must say, this was one of the best experiences I have had. It was a delight to be a part of this meet and I am glad that I got this opportunity to witness the daily activities at Naari and see how they create the exquisite and marvellous designs. <3

Here are some more photos of the colorful and vibrant collection of Naari just for you all. :) <3

That’s my favourite kurti from Rabadi collection. Isn’t it pretty? :)
