On June 11, we were in Berlin for a Boat trip on the river Havel. This time we were not on a cruise ship, but on a sailboat in our favorite city in Germany. We were invited by boatify to try a tour with one of their boats.

Who or what is behind boatify?

Boatify is a start-up that was established a few months ago to connect people who love water sports with boat owners. The founder, Johannes, lived on a boat on Lake Zurich for some time and discovered that many boat owners hardly use their boats during the week. Still others would like to do a boat trip but do not have a boat license or no boat. Therefore boatify does not only offer boats but also skippers for your boat trip

With the sailboat on the Havel

At 12 pm we met Jens, our skipper, at the Havelchaussee. Also Florian, one of the founders, was there to greet us for the boat trip in Berlin. The weather was just perfect. Bright sunshine, bright blue skies and 24 degrees outside. We followed them to the pier, along many left alone sailboats and motorboats. Hardly anyone was at the boat dock, so it was very quiet today. We only saw a few boats on the Havel. We stood in front of the LIV. Liv is the name of the sailboat. At a first glance, the boat looks quite small, but when you jump off the wooden plank onto the boat, you will quickly find out that it is much larger than it seems. In the back it fits four people. You can sit on the benches with nice blue cushions. On the sides there were even cup holders. Inside there was also a place to sleep.

Jens hoisted the sails and we were on our way over the Havel. Unfortunately, we had almost no wind today, but we felt the warm sun on our skin and enjoyed the sound of the water, splashing under the sailboat. We talked, laughed and enjoyed the good weather. Every now and then Jens showed us some of the highlights ashore, like the Grunewald Tower on the Karlsberg. After two hours, some clouds came up and we drove back to the dock. A wonderful tour came to an end and we were very relaxed.

It was an exciting experience on a sailboat on the Havel in Berlin and we thank the guys from boatify for a nice Saturday afternoon. Anyone looking for a getaway with friends or family in Berlin should definitely book a tour on a sailboat with boatify. We wish you all a lot of fun. And to the boatify team: Continuous success in the future!
