Changing a Photo Background with Movavi Photo Editor

Have you ever snapped a Photo where the subject turned out perfectly but the background had so many issues that it ruined the photo completely? Rather than throwing such photos in the discard pile, what if you could change the background instead?

Simply put Movavi Photo Editor will make it easy for you to learn how to change background on any photo. Its approach is straightforward and will take you step-by-step through the process of marking the areas that you want to remove and subsequently deleting and replacing them with a new image.

If you would like to try it out, launch Movavi Photo Editor and load the photo by clicking on the ‘Browse for Images’ button then selecting it. Next, open up the ‘Change Background’ tab that contains the tools you need to remove and replace the background of the photo.

Initially, you should start by marking the foreground (i.e. the parts that you want to keep) using the green ‘Foreground Brush’, and the background using the red ‘Background Brush’ – but you needn’t worry about how precise the selection is. When you’re done, click on the ‘Next Step’ button to have Movavi Photo Editor move on and provide you with the next set of tools you’ll need.

Among the new tools that are available you’ll see ‘Mask Brushes’ that can help refine the selection by adding or subtracting from them. Similarly, Movavi Photo Editor has a ‘Hair Selection’ tool that will make it easier to precisely select wispy details such as hair, fur, and so on. If and when you’re fully satisfied with the selection, click ‘Next Step’ and the background will be deleted accordingly.

As you may notice after the background is removed the image will have a transparent background, and if you want you can save it as such. However, if you’d like to use a new image as the background, click on the ‘Add Image’ button and select the image that you want Movavi Photo Editor to apply.

Assuming everything checks out you can then click ‘Save’ and save the photo that should now have a completely new background. Before that, you may want to try the other features in Movavi Photo Editor to improve its quality, apply artistic filters, transform the frame, add captions, remove unwanted objects, touch up portraits, and more.

Considering how easy it is to change the background of a photo using Movavi Photo Editor, it shouldn’t take you long to get the job done. Compared to most other options you’ll find it a lot easier to precisely select the subject and other foreground elements, and ensure that the background is removed and replaced without leaving any traces or imperfections behind.
