Construction of Canada’s Tallest Building Is Underway

Although construction of Canada’s tallest building began last August, excavation at the southwest corner of Yonge and Bloor in Downtown Toronto is now truly underway for Sam Mizrahi and Mizrahi Developments’ The One. The groundbreaking ceremony for the 85-storey luxury condo, retail, and hotel tower was actually in October, but more recently, excavation crews arrived on the scene to remove soil from the site.

Mid-Rise Building ‘The Cardiff’ Will Be A Little Different From Other Toronto Development Projects

The developers behind a project involving a new building in Sherwood Park are hoping for buyers interested in a mid-rise building. Sierra Building Group is developing a building that will feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom condos, as well as townhomes with outdoor space, all in a mid-rise package. ‘The Cardiff’ will have just 92 units, with lots of amenities, at Bayview and Eglinton in Sherwood Park.

Over 2,000 New Mixed-Income Rentals Earmarked In Toronto

Homes for approximately 2,150 families have planned in two Toronto locations thanks to a plan for mixed-income development—including affordable housing — announced in September by Toronto Mayor John Tory and Ontario Minister of Housing Peter Milczyn, as well as other municipal and provincial representatives. Two sites were chosen for the developments — a group of lots near Cherry and Mill Streets in the West Don Lands, and a site at 27 Grosvenor and 26 Grenville Streets — reportedly will include 30 percent affordable housing rental units.

Both sites are near transit and employment, and may also include retail space. The development team of Dream, Tricon, and Kilmer Group is behind the West Don Lands project, and the site at 27 Grosvenor and 26 Grenville will be developed by Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust (CREIT) and Greenwin Inc.
