Are you interested in getting into watersports, but don’t know which one is right for you? Check out some of these watersports that you haven’t tried yet.

#1: Wakeskating

If you’ve tried water skiing, you’ll love Wakeskating. It’s much the same concept, with the exception that you’re being pulled along on a wakeboard instead of skis. A wakeboard is essentially a wood and fiberglass board that looks a little bit like a surfboard.

On wakeboards, there are no bindings like on a traditional waterski. Instead, you wear water draining shoes, watersports accessories specifically designed for the sport. It takes some getting use to, like surfing. But once you’ve got the balance sorted, you’re ready to rumble. It’s an incredible thrill.


#2: Kite Surfing

Kite surfing is like surfing but taken to the next level. Here, you can get big air, thanks to the pull of the kite. And you can do tricks, meters up in the air to the amazement of onlookers.

Kite surfing is simple in concept. You ride a board, like in regular surfing. But you also hold onto a kite, which tugs you in various directions depending on the wind.

The biggest hazards for kite surfers is navigating the waters safely. Make sure you build up some experience on empty beaches first before moving on to more crowded spots. Also, ensure that you stay on the water. Getting big air on land is not advisable.


#3: Kayak Fishing

Whoever came up with kayak fishing was a bit of a genius. Love kayaking and fishing? Why not just do them both at the same time?

Fishing kayaks are different to regular kayaks. They have all sorts of little compartments for fishing tackle and bait. On top of that, they are wider and more secure than regular kayaks.

Right now, there are numerous tours running kayak fishing holidays.

When you’re out in the kayak, remember to wear your PFD and the proper clothes. Secluded lakes have a habit of being cold when you fall in.


#4: Surf Kayaking

Why is it that kayaks seem to be confined to waterways and lakes? When you think about it, there really isn’t a good reason – it’s just convention. But now an intrepid group of adventurers is expanding out into the open ocean in their kayaks.

Surf kayaking involves riding big waves as they come into land. Wielding nothing more than a paddle, it’s the kayaker’s job to keep the boat steady and true.

Perhaps the biggest difficulty of surf kayaking is the fact that the kayak itself is open. In other words, water can rush in, and you can quickly find yourself on a sinking ship.

There is another version of the sport called wave skiing. In wave skiing, the cockpit is closed to prevent you from going down. But don’t worry, both sports are extremely physically demanding. If you’re looking for a workout, this is the one to choose.


#5: Paddle Boarding

Paddle boarding got going centuries ago after Pacific Islanders found that it was a good way to get around. Here, you stand on the board, and then use a paddle to row yourself along. It sounds tame, but it isn’t. Make sure you check out the videos of Paddle Boarding online.
