Oxytetracycline HCl, the active ingredient of the product, is a broad-spectrum antibacterial related to the tetracycline group and inhibits protein synthesis in microorganisms sensitive to it. It is bacteriostatic at therapeutic doses and is bactericidal at high concentrations.

Among bacteria that are highly sensitive even to very low MIC values of oxytetracycline; gram-positive aerobes (Bacillus sp., Corynebacterium sp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathia, Listeria monocytogenes and Streptococci.), gram-negative bacteria (Actinobacillus sp., Bordetella sp., Brucella sp., Francisella tularensis, Haemophilus sp., Pasteurella Pmultoci. haemolytica, Yersinia sp., Campylobacter fetus, Borrelia sp. and Leptospira sp. Moraxella bovis), anaerobic pathogens (Actinomyces sp., Fusobacterium sp., Mycoplasma sp., Chlamydia sp., Ehrlichia sp., Coxiella burnetti, Ehrlichia,) and protozoa such as Theileria, Eperythrozoon, and Anaplasmas.

Staphylococci, Enterococci, Enterobacter sp., Enterobacter sp. from Enterobacteriaceae family, E.coli, Klebsiella sp., Proteus sp., Salmonella sp., Bacteroides sp. from anaerobic bacteria. and Clostridium sp. Its action against these bacteria is variable, as they gain resistance to oxytetracycline.

Oxytetracycline resistant bacteria; Mycobacterium spp., Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia sp., Mycoplasma bovis and M. hyopneumoniae.

Vitaform Powder for Oral Solution, considering the usage areas; It has been formulated to contain 8 essential vitamins, which are of vital importance for pets, in appropriate proportions and in sufficient quantities, in order to meet the vitamin deficiency caused by the use of antibacterials in sick animals, to provide multi-vitamin support that is highly necessary in the treatment phase, and to shorten the convalescence period.

  • Vitamin A: It is one of the essential micronutrients necessary for maintaining growth, development and reproductive activities, regulating immune responses, and increasing the productivity of all kinds of animals at optimum levels.
  • Vitamin D3: (cholecalciferol): By increasing plasma Ca and P levels, it ensures the normal mineralization of bones and the execution of physiological functions in other tissues. It strengthens the egg shell.
  • Vitamin B2: Absolutely essential for amino acid metabolism, transmethylation and transsulfuration. Riboflavin plays a catalyst role in hemoglobin synthesis.
  • Vitamin B12: It is a growth and yield factor. It is quite necessary for chicks and broilers.
  • Vitamin K3: It provides the formation of prothrombin. Therefore, it is necessary for blood coagulation. It prevents bleeding, especially in intestinal diseases and has an important place in the treatment of bleeding caused by parasites.
  • Vitamin E (tocopherol): Increases the durability of cellular membranes by preventing the formation of intracellular free oxygen radicals. It prevents the oxidation of vitamin A and ensures its storage in the liver.
  • Niacinamide: It is effective in carbohydrate, protein and lipid metabolism. It is necessary for growth.
  • Calcium pantothenate: It is the main component of coenzyme A, which is effective in lipid and glucose metabolism.

Oxytetracycline is absorbed rapidly and in high concentration and spreads throughout the body, and its half-life in the blood is between 6 and 8 hours.

Oxytetracycline is excreted mainly in the urine and to a lesser extent in the bile. Therefore, it is very effective in urinary system disorders and liver infections.Safra yoluyla atılan kısmı barsaklardan geri emilerek enterohepatik dolaşıma girer.

In order to ensure successful treatment in all target species, drug treatment is continued for 3 – 5 days.

SPECIAL CLINICAL INFORMATION AND SPECIAL WARNINGS FOR TARGET SPECIES

The product should be consumed completely within 5-6 hours after mixing with water. Since oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibacterial, its use in lambs and calves whose rumen activity has begun may have a detrimental effect on rumen activities. In such cases, oral and parenteral fluid-electrolyte support is recommended to compensate for the excessive fluid-electrolyte loss due to diarrhea.

UNDESIRED/SIDE EFFECTS

During treatment with all tetracyclines, the balance of microbial flora in the digestive tract may be disturbed. In such cases, tetracycline therapy should be stopped. Long-term use of tetracyclines may cause fatty hepatic degeneration and yellowing of teeth in young animals in animals with pre-existing hepatic failure.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

When used with divalent metal salts, they reduce the absorption of tetracyclines from the gastrointestinal tract due to the chelate complex. Therefore, it should not be given to calves and lambs together with milk. The drug should be administered at least 2-3 hours before or after breastfeeding. Substances such as orally administered bicarbonate, kaolin, and pectin also reduce their absorption. It should not be administered together with beta-lactam group antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins. In addition, it should not be used together with calcium chloride, calcium gluconate, aminophylline, pentobarbital sodium, sodium bicarbonate, and thiopental sodium.

SYMPTOMS OF OVERDOSE, PRECAUTIONS AND ANTIDOTE

Even doses 5 times higher than the treatment doses of oxytetracycline do not cause toxicity. In terms of the vitamins it contains if it is used in excessive doses and frequently, a case of hypervitaminosis may develop due to excessive vitamin A overload. Overdoses of vitamin D3 can also cause calcifications in blood vessels.

WARNINGS ABOUT DRUG RESIDUES IN FOOD

Drug residue wash-out period (i.k.a.s): During the treatment and after the last drug administration, lambs and calves raised for meat should not be sent to slaughter before 10 days, poultry and rabbits 14 days. Eggs obtained during the use of the drug and for 14 days following the cessation of use should not be offered for consumption.
