Emotional Support Animals are certified animals that are used to provide Emotional Support to people with disabilities. They are not therapeutic animals, meaning they do not have certification or training to treat a mental health condition or disability. There is no one size fits all definition of an Emotional Support Animal, as each person's needs and situation are different. 

To get an ESA letter to get your pet certified, you will first need to file a request with your local municipality or county. You will need to provide proof of your disability, such as a doctor's note or letter from a therapist. You will also need to provide documentation that your emotional support animal is appropriate for you, such as a certificate from your veterinarian confirming that the animal is healthy and qualified for use as an emotional support animal. Finally, you will need to pay a certification fee. 

Once you have completed all of these steps, you can begin using your emotional support animal in public without any additional restrictions. Just remember to keep your certification card handy so that anyone who asks can verify that you are legally using your pet as an emotional support animal.

Generally speaking, however, an Emotional Support Animal helps someone feel less anxiety and depression, improve mood swings and stress levels, have more energy, and decrease reliance on medication.
