Top 5 Book Series Of All Time

Finding the right Book to read is a tiring and tough job that could take you on a magical ride through all kinds of genres. Finding an un-put-down-able book series with an intriguing plot and characters so great that you can stick with through more than three books, is almost impossible.

Well, it certainly is possible, if you have me by your side. I present you the top five book series of all time that have stunned the audience around the globe with their brilliance, originality and depth.

1. Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling

Who else can take the number one spot than the charming boy with glasses and a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead? This book series that consists of seven books is just the thing for every lover of the written word. Similar to the quote in the first book that says, “Every child in the world will know his name”, there is not a human being on this planet Earth that hasn’t heard about the magical adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione in the school for witchcraft and wizardry Hogwarts. If you haven’t already, make sure you add it on your reading list.

2. Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien

The masterful Tolkien upped his game with the release of his most notable work The Lord of the Rings in 1954 and since then the world has gone wild. Being a trilogy, the series is focused on the adventure of the hobbit Frodo and his fellowship who roam the imaginary world of Middle Earth to destroy the Ring while dark forces lurk at every corner. A total classic, The Lord of the Rings, has had a massive effect on both high-fantasy and everyday culture.

3. Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The world hasn’t tasted a big hype since the publishing of Harry Potter, but in 2008 we got something similar to that huge success – the trilogy The Hunger Games. Collins gave a whole new perspective to the “dystopian world” concept littering her original suspense plot with a powerful leading heroine and a fantastic scenery in a somewhat bleak-looking future of our world. In a world divided into twelve districts, the reader follows the brutal Hunger Games through the eyes of Katniss Everdeen in this page-turner.

4. Millennium by Stieg Larsson & David Lagercrantz

You may probably wonder if a thriller book series can make a great bestseller. Millennium (imagined as a trilogy and then expanded with a fourth book by Lagercrantz), is the actual proof that believable characters who take the story on their shoulders can achieve a worldwide fame. Firstly published in Sweden, it didn’t take long until Lisbeth Salander flew across the pond to the U.S. and wowed the public with twists and turns you definitely won’t see coming. It’s an absolute must for every thriller-lover who misses the golden days of detectives running around to solve the mystery.

5. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin

War. Intrigue. Politics. Sex. Love. Blood. That’s a perfect six-word synopsis of the marvelous book series by Martin that reached the peak of popularity with the start of the HBO’s adaptation Game of Thrones. It is a high fantasy set in the world of Westeros where everyone is ready to cut your throat or stab you in the back when you least expect it. A Song of Ice and Fire, with currently five books out, is probably the most unpredictable and the one to leave your jaw dropping by a huge cast of ambitious characters and mind-blowing plot twists.

Make sure all of these find their way on your bookshelf. Believe me, you won’t regret it! Do you have any other great suggestions? We would love to hear them! Leave a comment below with your favorite book!
