Google search is having a huge amount of love towards its audience, as we type in some words it will automatically scan each and every page and gives us the best possible results but in most of the cases it will give some results which are not satisfied by us, isn’t it?

It has happened to me many times and I think that you also have faced this sort of situation.

However if you are a normal user who uses Google in its simplest form by just typing in a few words and keeps on changing your query until you find the best possible result which you are looking for, then you can’t get the 100% out of google Search engine.

If you want to get 100% out of google search then you must know some search tactics which will advance you’re searching capabilities and helps you to find your desired and the best result out of the google.

How to search on Google:

Here are the advanced search tactics of google, to get full out of google search and to be an expert in google and find almost anything on google.

Search for an Exact phrase:

To search for a specific words or phrase you must use (“).

Let’s say if you want to search for a content about Facebook Tips, Now if we just type facebook tips and search on google then we can only find a few a similar results but we can’t get exact results.

Instead of that, you use “Facebook Tips,” this will produce you the best results which are on Facebook tips.

You can apply this method to any topic.

Google Search tactics

Example search:  “Facebook tips”, “Hacking”, “how to start a blog”, “latest movies online” etc.

This quotation says google that: you must only pick articles which are having these words.

Exclude a particular word from results:

To exclude a particular word or site from the results, then you must use “-“

Let’s say if you want to search for “hotels” but you don’t want to search for luxury hotels then just include “-“ in your search term.

Ex: “Hotel – luxury hotels”.

Then this “minus says” hey google the searcher only want hotels but not luxury hotels so it will detect the hotels list and show the results of only hotels but not luxury hotels. Similarly, if you don’t want to see particular site results on your hotel’s search then simply write the website name.

Let’s say I don’t want to see “goibibo” site on the search results then simply type –“goibibo or goibibo.com”.

Ex: Hotels –goibibo, Hotels –goibibo.com (both will work).

In this “minus” says hey google visitor don’t want to include this particular site on the results so please remove that sites results. Hence, google will remove those sites and give you the results.

How to find google+ pages or blood types:

Google is having a “+” command which we’ll learn about.

If you want to search for google + pages or profiles then just add an “addition sign” in front of the google+ user.

Examples:  +myvashblogging+guy Kawasaki, + Darren Rowse etc.

If you are after the blood types then just type “AB+, O+, B+ etc”.

How to find words in the text:

If you want to find a web page – where all your search terms appearing in the text of that page. Then you can use this command: allintext.

Let’s say I want to search for some words like “how to start a business” now I want all the articles which are having these words.

Then just type allintext: your search term.

Example: allintext: how to start a business.

This command is similar to exact phrase command.

Find the words in the title:

If you want to find a web page with certain words contained in the title then you can type “allintitle”.

If I want to find a web page with certain words like “blogging tips” in the title then I must type

Allintitle: blogging tips – Then you will get each and every article which is having blogging tips on its title.

Example: allintitle: blogging tips, allintitle: best action movies etc.

Find words in text and title and URL:

If you want to find a web page where the first word apper’s in text and then second in the title and third in URL then you can easily type:  the first term followed by intext: third term.

Find words in title and text and URL:

If you want to find a web page where the first word appears in the title and the second term in the text and the third term elsewhere.

Then type the first term followed by intitle: and second term.

Example: blogging intitle: important.

Find the words in URL:

If you want to find your search in the URL of the page then just type allinurl: your search term. This will show you all the URL which are having your search terms in their URL’s.

Example: allinurl: how to start a blog.

How to search within a website:

Most of them will have their favorite sites, and they often wanted to check those sites for solving a problem or finding a resource to download etc.

Then how to search within a website for our specific search. Well, we can easily search a site in google.

Let’s say I want to search for a topic: “facebook news” in a particular site called mashable.

Now what to do just type: site: mashable.com “facebook news”.

How to find related sites:

If at all you like a topic and doing more research on that topic then you want to explore more fresh content from that topic by new or similar content to a website. Now you can easily get them in a google search.

By just typing related: site name.

Example: related: canva.com, related: unsplash.com etc.

How to find a page that links to other pages:

Now, if you want to find the pages that link to another page then you can do it easily by the help of google search. Let’s say you want to search for all websites that have a link towards Huffington post.

If you want to find out: then type the command: Link: the URL.

Now, after that google will find and give you all the pages that link to Huffington post website.

How to find linked sites

Ex: link:www.huffingtonpost.com. Link:masable.com etc.

Note: There can be no space between the “link:” and the Url.

Similar words and synonyms:

If you want to search for a search and you also want to show the results of the search term synonyms also. Then you can do it by adding “~”.

Let’s say I want to search for blogs

Ex: “software” ~profession

Find word definitions:

If you need to take a look at definitions of the word or phrase in google quickly then you can simply type “define” command.

Let’s say if we want to know the definition of “content marketing” then simply type define: content marketing. Then google will display the definition of content marketing.

This command applies to all the others definitions also.

Example: Define: content marketing.

Missing words:

Have ever forgotten some word or two from a specific sentence, phrase, movie, song lyric or anything else?

Then you can ask to google to find your words. You can use an asterisk* as a fill in the blank. This asterisk will help you to find the missing word in a phrase.

Search for social tags:

To search for social tags you should place “@” before the social tag you’d like to search.

Let’s say if you want to search for a particular social media tag “tech” then just place “@” before the tech then you can get the results of that tag.

Example: @myvashblogging, @wired, @tech etc.

Search for prices:

If you want to search particular product prices then you can use “$” to know the cost of the product.

Let’s say if you want to search price for Nikon camera type Nikon $500. It will show all the products with prices.

Example: Nikon $500, Canon $250, Shirts $25 etc.

Search for a range of prices:

To search a range of prices. Place two dots between the designated numbers you want to search between.

Let’s say you wanted a mobile phone and you want to search mobile phones above 200$ and below 500$.

Now just type mobile phone $200..$500. It will display all the product which are in the range of that value.

Example: Mobile phone $200..$500.

How to search popular hashtags for trending topics:

If you want to find a popular hashtag for the trending topic, then simply choose the trending topic and just place a hashtag in front of the desired topic.

For example: #blackfridaydeals, #sports etc.

This OR That:

To search for pages that just have one of the several words on their site.

Let’s say you wanted to search for windows 8 or window 10. Then in that case Place “OR” between the two words you are searching for: windows 8 OR windows 10.

Note: OR should be in capital letters.

Ex: Windows 8 OR windows 10.

How to know that your site is indexed by google:

This is a similar tactic like “search on a site” but this is the basic. To check whether the site is indexed or not in google.

How to find indexed pages

Just type: site: yourdomainname.com

If its shows the results then your site is indexed and if it’s not showing any data means your site is not indexed by google yet.

This is the bravest ways to see which post are indexed on particular pages.

Ex: site:myvash.com.

How to find the information of a particular website:

To search for information about a particular website including cached pages and the other pages linking to the site we can use “info” command.

Type info: in front of the site or domain name which you want to know the information about.

This command shows the Google’s cache pages of that site and the link to the particular site and it can also search for similar sites to that site.

How to check “how a page look like when the google crawled their site”:

If you want to see how a website look when the google crawled their site.

Then type “cache:” in front of the page which you’d like to view

Ex: cache:myvash.com, cache:mashable.com etc.

How to check for a specific file type:

Let’s say we are searching for pdf and we couldn’t find the pdf, now if we have searched term then we can easily find the file type items of that search term.

Type “filetype:” in front of the specific file type which you are searching for.

If you want to see your IP address then just type “IP address” in the search bar of the google then you can see your Ip address.

You can use the calculator simply by entering the values or the equation which you want to calculate in the search bar. And it will do the rest and show you the result.

To convert currency or measurements just enter the first amount and unit.

Means, Enter the first amount and unit and then type “to” and then enter the second unit.

To see the films playing near your location and there timing just type the “movies” followed by zip code or city.

If you want to translate a simple word or phrase or multiple words from one language to another language. Then there is no need to go to a translation website you can do it google search as well. Just type translate and the word and in which language you want to translate.

If you want to see the phone number details of a particular “number which you are getting lots of fake calls and etc. you can find them on google by using Google’s phonebook feature but this will only work in few countries and all numbers won’t work.

Google provides a tip calculator along with the normal calculator, google has officially built and named as a tip calculator.

Just search tip calculator and you will find the calculator, you can easily adjust the bill and tip percentage and number of people sharing it.

How to set timer:

If you don’t have a timer, then google provides you with a handy timer. Just type an amount of time + the word “time”, and you can see the countdown will begin automatically.

Ex: 10 min timer.

Stopwatch:

If you want stopwatch. Just search “stopwatch” and it’ll bring up a stopwatch for you and when you are ready to begin you can start.
