On Saturday, Saturday Night Live director Matt Villines passed away at 39 after losing a two-year battle with cancer.

One half of the directing duo Matt & Oz, they directed skits such as Back Home Ballers, Jay Z Story, and (Do It On My) Twin Bed. The duo met at film school in Los Angeles, and started their careers doing work for the website Funny Or Die.
Two years after he was hired at SNL, Matt was diagnosed with Stage IV kidney cancer.
He is survived by his wife Linda Tan Villines.
