U.S. Supreme Court Judge Antonin Scalia Found Dead Unexpectedly At 79

This is very sudden and unexpected.

Antonin Scalia, a United States Supreme Court Associate Justice, has been found dead at a luxury resort ranch in West Texas, according to federal law enforcement officials. He was 79 years old.

The judge, who was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch south of Marfa, Texas, arrived at the ranch on Friday evening and apparently attended a party with several dozen people.

When he didn’t come to breakfast the next morning, a ranch employee went to his room, and found the body.

U.S. District Judge Fred Biery told reporters about being notified of Scalia’s death:

“I was told it was this morning. t happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it’s pretty vague right now as to how. My reaction is it’s very unfortunate. It’s unfortunate with any death, and politically in the presidential cycle we’re in, my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected.”

Currently, the U.S. Marshal Service, the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are all involved in an investigation to get to the root cause of the death.

Even though federal officials declined to comment on the record to reporters, one anonymous law enforcement officer did say they do NOT believe the death is anything but natural causes.

Scalia had been nominated to the Supreme Court all the way back in 1986 by then-President Ronald Reagan.
