2017 is upon us!

So what’s the strategy for this year when it comes to our domain name sales and acquisition?

First off, we mainly buy .COM domain names. This is something that is not going to change any time soon. No matter what type of hype the gtld’s or other extensions are getting, .COM sales are always far and above the best.

Other extensions I always keep an eye on would be:

• .net
• .org
• .info
• .co
• .tv

Why?

I just like them and I see them sell. So follow what sells, right? But just keep in mind when it comes to these extensions, I would not suggest pursuing 2-3 word type names. The shorter the better. High search volume, common words.

Another thing we are switching BACK to this year is making all of our domains forwarding to “sales landers”. If you are not familiar with what this is you can see our post about it here.

The reason is because for the most part, parked pages don’t make you much money. A lot of clicks but little money most of the time.

Since we’ve seen a higher number of visitors to our parked domains (primarily because we’ve purchased higher quality domain names), putting sales landers up and giving interested parties the easiest and clearest way to contact us makes the most sense.

Eventually having a “portfolio website” to house all of our domains for sale is the way we want to go. If you have knowledge at making great looking portfolio websites for domain names, email us.

The last thing to share for the plan for 2017 is to sell more through auctions like Flippa and Namejet. We’ve had a few successful sales on Flippa in which we talk about here and here.

Namejet is new to us when it comes to selling but have already had a few sales on their platform as well. It’s a little “harder” to get approved to sell there but if you can get in, they have a large pool of buyers and seem to market well to increase exposure to your auctions.
