Five Effective Tips To Setting A Feasible Writing Goal

The beginning of a year is the time to make new resolutions.  Some strive throughout the year with the plan before their eyes and fulfill them. Others just Write them down. Within a few days, they just forget the plan.  Whatever is the situation, there is no doubt to one thing. No one wants to fail in their new year resolutions. If you are a writer, the following tips will definitely help.

  1. Make a choice with care

See to it that the goal you set up is something you love. Otherwise, your enthusiasm to attain the same will be short-lived. Do an honest analysis. What is it that you are passionate about? Can you visualize yourself following your goal to the end? If “yes” is your answer for both the questions, you may go for it.

  1. Determine your path

Divide your goals into short-term and long-terms. Try to get used to fulfill your short-term within no time. From here, you can move toward your long-term goal. For instance, a goal like completing a novel within six months will definitely overwhelm you. Begin with an Attempt to write 600 words per day. When this becomes your habit, you can increase the length. This way, you will move to your target without even you noticing it.

  1. Be kind to yourself

It is quite natural that you feel ambitious and go overboard. However, if you want to attain something, you have to be kind to yourself. Decide how much time you will set aside for writing. If it is half an hour, that will do great. Aim for consistency at that time. Prepare your schedule in such a way as to meet your own expectations from yourself. Being overboard may pay off. But that excitement is short-lived. And if you fail somewhere, you will feel frustrated and leave the attempt.

  1. Have faith in yourself

It is often said, you become what you think. If you feel that you won’t do something, even the most powerful motivation is not going to help. Start slow with the faith that you will succeed. When you are confident enough, you can climb the ladder. This confidence will continue to push you upward. However, expect disappointments at Regular Intervals. No one is perfect; an attempt in this direction is futile. You can only excel in what you do. Outsmarting others needs dedication, persistence and patience. If you are up for the task, go for it.

  1. Set a deadline

Evaluate your time, your capabilities and set a deadline accordingly. You may write it wherever you want so as to keep it before your eyes. Be reasonably strict, but don’t be harsh on yourself. Be mindful of the important events that may leave you with no time to work toward your goal. In such an instance, you will have to rearrange your schedule. Remember, the change you make is not because you lack the capability. You are just making an adjustment for something important. You may compensate for it as and when time allows.

Finally, review your progress at regular intervals. You can arrange it as per your convenience. Just make sure that you are doing it. Fix a date for the next review when preparing for the current session. Doing this will help you know where you are in your goal. Evaluate failures, take steps to prevent them from repeating and march on. Success is yours at the end!
