Trekking and the Common Lingo- Be Unconventional

Ever heard someone who has been to Northern India, specifically the Himalayan range, and has returned saying “Well, it wasn’t much”? We dare you to find someone who would be so out of snap to have said that. The Indian subcontinent is home to the breathtaking Himalayan Range that spans across ten of the Northern-North-eastern states. What is more intriguing about the Himalayas is the opportunity it accords everyone to test their will against odds. It is a dream comes true for many of us to set afoot in the Himalayas. There is a specific notion towards the Trekking experience many an Indian and people from the word over have so many fond and not-so-fond memories of. We have seen numerous fictional and non-fictional encounters in the current day that has its root at the trekking experiences of many world-renowned climbing teams, and people, per se.

Of it all, experiences of trekkers in scaling the mighty Mt. Everest, the 8848 meter mammoth that stand atop the rest of the earth, only to show mankind how insignificant it is. The Mt. Everest is located at the Mahalangur mountain range in Nepal. It is aptly called Sagarmatha, the mother of the ocean, and Chomolungma in Tibet. It is as daunting a task to scale the Everest that to bring someone back from the dead; not many have done so.  Trekking, as an activity, reaches its ultimate purpose when one attempts to scale the Everest. Reading out certain statistics; there has been a monumental level of successful attempts to scale the Everest since 2000. To be precise, there have been more than 5100 ascents by more than 3100 individuals, with 77% of the successful attempts done later than the year 2000.

And here is some juicy news for all those eager trekkers out there. Nepal is home to eight of the ten “eight-thousanders”, meaning 8 of the ten highest peaks in the world have their access through Nepal. Be advised though that the best season to go on treks in Nepal, in general, are the warm and dry seasons, that fall exactly between the months of March to June and September to November. Given one’s thirst for adventure, it is advisable to go on guided treks rather than to get extremely adventurous and go on independent treks on unfamiliar terrain. DO opt for independent treks on main trekking areas only.’

All said and done, trekking is touted to be a heart-filling adventurous activity, that especially when you hit the Nepal landscape in the dry season. Who knows, anyone might get a shot at scaling the Everest, if they have what it takes! Not for trekking, be assured being there in the lap of Himalayas by itself is an exquisite feel and innumerable trips in various packages happen through the year to Himalayas irrespective of the age group.
