The Crete Sephora Haul and first impressions

I recently had a weeks family holiday to Chania, Crete (Photos soon to follow!) On most days it was a death worthy 33 degrees heat which was enough for me to physically want to melt and 4 litres of water a day was just not enough. On the Thursday however our luck changed and there was just enough breeze and clouds that the weather dropped to about 28 degrees by no means was I bundling up in a blanket with a wooly hat on but it was just that bit cooler I did not need to spend every waking moment in the pool in an effort to be a normal human temperature. So on this day we decided to explore the wonderful old town of Chania (If you love Brighton's lanes, you'll love the old town of Chania!) So as I was wondering around I noticed that all too familiar black and white stripping. SEPHORA! I am surprised they had a Sephora in this town of all places as it is a very traditional town with local stock, but hey you don't hear me complaining! Duh of course I went in, Duh of course I brought stuff I did not need and Duh I overspent.

On to the haul and first impressions!

First up the Anastasia Beverly Hills - Contour Kit in Light to Medium

I have wanted this palette for ages but I was unsure wether or not to take the plunge as it comes in around £39.00, which for an eyeshadow palette I would not bat an eyelid but a contour palette I wasn't sure whether I wanted to invest. I took the plunge and I am so impressed the palette is extremely pigmented and the 6 shades are all wonderful however I rarely use the darkest contour colour, simply because I am so pale it looks far too dark on my skin. But if you're not as pale as an A4 sheet of paper then I'm sure the shade would work great for you. I also love the highlighter in this palette it's quite simple with only providing a subtle highlight, it's perfect for those no makeup, makeup days. However if you're looking for this highlighter to make your cheek bones sparkle like  a disco ball this probably isn't going to cut the mustard.

Next up on the list is the "Blotterazzi by Beautyblender" I've been seeing these floating around the blogging and youtube networks. As an oily girl myself whom when I was used to apply 2cm thick worth of Rimmel London - Stay Matte Powder and looking flatter than a door as I've got older I've used everything in the books. I am a lover of good old fashioned blotting paper but the damn things always get lost in my bag just like chewing gum does. So this seemed right up my street (And it comes with a mirror = extra bonus point) These are great for a quick blott on the go and I love how they are so compact and travel friendly. However they do get dirty fairly quickly and are pretty expensive I feel just for a fancier version of blotting paper, but hey they look cute!

I've been after an every day lipstick since I lost my MAC creme cup on a drunken stumble one night but I just have really struggled to find the right shade but after watching Hannah Michalaks/Maggs Everyday Makeup Routine (A must watch if I do say so myself) I noticed her lipstick the most which is Bobbi Brown in Barely Pink and god am I glad that I got it this shade is literally the perfect everyday shade it is a 'your lips but better' shade, which adds just the perfect amount of colour.

The search for the perfect waterproof mascara is always something on my list and I think I've found it. It's the Too Faced - Better Than Sex Mascara and oh wow this is amazing. It gives both volume and length to your lashes whilst being waterproof. And when they say waterproof, they mean waterproof. Put it this way it held up perfectly whilst I was watching the last two episodes of Orange Is The New Black (That was a tear jerker, trust)

Finally I decided I needed a brush to get right into those well hidden cheek bones of mine so I picked up the Sephora Makeup Brush called the Uniform Collection Brush. This brush is great for digging into those cheeks. The only thing I would say is to make sure you blend it out after applying otherwise you may end up with one harsh line.
