The German luxury automotive marque BMW India recently launched a special ’50 Jahre M Edition’ of the BMW 6 Series in India to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the renowned BMW M GmbH. The limited-edition Model will be built locally at BMW Group’s Plant in Chennai and will only come in a petrol variant – the BMW 630i M Sport.

The bespoke model, which will be made available in limited numbers, can be reserved via visiting the brand’s official website. BMW stated that this new special edition model has been launched to pay homage and celebrate the achievement of BMW’s high-performance sub-brand BMW M’s jubilee anniversary. The new limited edition model has been introduced at a price tag of Rs 72,90,000.

On the exterior, the new limited edition 6 Series features some aesthetic changes that make it look more distinct than the regular productions 6 Series. On the front, the signature BMW Kidney Grille has been blacked as part of the special edition and as an alternative to the conventional BMW emblem, the iconic M Emblem inspired by the classic ‘BMW Motorsport’ logo has been fitted on the bonnet. The iconic M emblem also adorns the front and rear logo as well as the wheel hub caps. Meanwhile, on the rear, the similar modern and broad muscular lines of the new 6 Series can be seen.

BMW is offering the new ‘50 Jahre M Edition’ in striking paint finishes including BMW Individual Tanzanite Blue Metallic, M Carbon Black, Bernina Grey Amber Effect and Mineral White, paired with Natural Leather Dakota upholstery in Cognac finish with contrast stitching. Meanwhile, customers can add sporting character to every detail with an optional M Accessories Package. The Motorsport Pack goes a step further and gives an exterior upgrade. It includes BMW Kidney Grille in High Gloss Black, Key Fob in Carbon Fibre and Alcantara and commanding 19-inch 647 M Light alloy wheels in Jet black.

As for the interior of the ‘50 Jahre M Edition’ BMW has adorned the model with Sport Seats in Natural Leather Dakota with M Seatbelts. The seats offer fully electric adjustment with memory function on the driver as well as the passenger side. At the rear, the bench has an electrically adjustable backrest angle, electrically adjusted roller sunblinds and comfort headrest cushions. Like the standard model, the two-part panoramic glass sunroof is also offered in the limited edition car. Ambient Lighting with six dimmable settings and four-zone automatic climate control with extended features are also carried over.

As for the drivetrain, the same 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that powers the BMW 630i has been carried over to this new model, producing a maximum output of 258 horsepower and peak torque of 400 Nm with 0-100 kmph acceleration in under 6.5 seconds. The engine comes mated to an eight-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission. It also comes with steering wheel paddle shifters and cruise control with braking function. Furthermore, the standard Adaptive 2-axle Air Suspension and Individual electronically controlled dampers remain in the new limited edition model.
