Babe on Budget

(I AM "A BOB" = AWESOME BABE ON BUDGET)
1. HONESTY: You have to admit you don’t have a lot to spend or at least be honest about what you can Afford.

2. UNDERSTANDING: You must understand that expensive items are meant for people with money (not as in rich...but as in people who can afford to spend without crying later).

3: KNOWLEDGE: You must understand that expensive items do not mean the item is better- Brand name items are pricey because of keyword: brand name, not because the items are made from quality materials. In most cases, designers are selling you regular items at designer prices (it’s strictly business baby).

4: DISCIPLINE: Buy what you can afford and not what you wish you can afford- You might be smiling when you are paying for it or when you are out showing it off, but that smile will turn into a frown, tears or scream when the bills comes around!

5: INNOVATIVE: Know the hot spots-sign up for store discount or reward programs (if available) and avoid charging unnecessary items to your credit card (credit card is NOT free money...you have to pay it back so it’s your move).

6: SENSIBILITY: Do not buy something because someone rich/famous wore it! The truth is, you probably don’t have “celeb dough”....so the likelihood that you can afford what they have is very slim.

7: TIME MANAGEMENT: Don’t shop in a hurry! Take your time and feed your eyes (but not too much to avoid temptation). Hit up the clearance/discount aisle/racks. For the most part, those aisles/racks never disappoint even if you only find one item.

8: WISE SPENDING: Dress to impress does not mean spend to impress unless you plan on stapling the receipts and price tags to your body!

9: DIGNITY: Don’t be ashamed of your budget: Honesty is the best policy! You can buy a chic and cheap tank top from Walmart, a sexy short from Forever 21 or Wet Seal and pair it with hot shoes from DSW or Payless Shoe Source (they always have a sale) and look better than a supermodel. It all boils down to fitting.

10: CONFIDENCE: Avoid wearing things because they are the “it” item of the moment, or because it was on sale or for whatever reason. Start wearing “it” because “it” looks good, “it” makes you feel good and because “it” fits you and your budget properly. If you can acknowledge these simple rules, then you are on your way to becoming An Uptown BOB (Uptown Babe on Budget). These rules apply to gents as well not just ladies.
