Island Child Style : Jamaica's First Children Fashion Show

Bravo TV’s Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey will once again be in Jamaica, as she partners with B3 Parenting Magazine at the inaugural staging of the Caribbean’s first children’s runway event Island Child Style featuring collections created by local, regional and international designers. The event is the first of its kind in the region, joining the international stage of runway events dedicated to children’s fashion. Global cities such as Hong Kong, New York, Paris and London have long celebrated the fashion industry for children and now the collective Caribbean makes its mark in Kingston. Bailey, who is also the owner of one of Atlanta’s foremost fashion schools, The Bailey Agency, will visit the island in June as part of an initiative to provide aspiring talent with the necessary tools to achieve success in the fashion industry.

One lucky child model will be selected from the group of Island Child Style models to attend a weeklong camp at the fashion school in Atlanta. The Bailey Agency is an exclusive institution for young minds desiring to learn about fashion, modeling, acting and entertainment. This event introduces a new dimension to Jamaica’s social, fashion and tourism sectors providing opportunities for designers, brands and talent. As an extension of Jamaica’s already-strong position as a leader in the regional fashion market, Island Child Style will further cement the Caribbean as a creative and revolutionary influencer in one of the most lucrative segments in the global apparel industry.

drennLUNA, Carlton Brown, Neah Lis and Julan from Jamaica, as well as Anthony Reid and Meiling out of Trinidad, are among 15 designers who will be showcasing their children’s collections on the runway. Some 68 models aged 4 to 14 were selected from a pool of almost 400 children at B3 Parenting Magazine’s recent model search. Bailey is listed as one of Wilhelmina Model’s most successful international models on record, having walked the runways for Paris and Milan Fashion weeks and booked repeat ad campaigns for notable brands such as Maybelline, Oil of Olay, editorial spreads for Vogue, Elle, Glamour and Vanity Fair. Bailey and her daughter Noelle Robinson will grace the cover of B3’s summer issue due on newsstands at the end of May, ahead of her arrival for the June 4 event.

The 14-page editorial spread features Bailey as ‘model mom’ to her 16-year-old daughter. With the support of sponsors including eMedia Interactive, Saint International, The Jamaica Business Development Corporation, Pings Fabrics, The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, Main Event Group, FYI Consultancy, Island Curlz, Ice Dream, Pizza Hut, Beaches Resorts, The RJR Group, The Jamaica Gleaner and Mercedes Benz, B3 Parenting will create opportunities that embrace creativity, build new brands and initiate an exciting era of Kid-trepreneurs; not only in modeling and fashion, but also in design and business.
