After our night at a friend’s House, we got up, had a proper breakfast and got in the car. My form was still not very good, so I was extremely glad it was not me driving. We took a detour to visit some family members we had not seen in a while before we headed back East towards Dublin. On our way we ended up having to wait for an easter parade for about 30 minutes in a small town. But apart from that everything went quite ok.
I was very tired by the time we got to the Hotel. We had booked a wonderful hotel for the night called Radisson Blu St. Helen’s Hotel. The room we got was lovely and I got a little rest and a shower before we took a walk around the gardens and enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant. Even if I was very congested, I could still taste the food. After the meal I was nearly falling asleep, and my nose was so blocked that I could hardly breathe. I had an intention of watching some TV before sleeping, but I could not stay awake, so it ended up being a very early night.
The hotel is in a period house that was built in the early 1750s. It is located in Booterstown in county Dublin and was originally called Seamount. In 1994 the house was listed as a National Monument and it was noted by Senator Cosgrave, that the house was “one of the finest Georgian houses in the borough and probably one of the finest in the country”. The Radisson Hotels became the operator of St. Helen’s as a five-star hotel in 1998.
The next morning, I woke up feeling a lot better, but still a bit blocked up. We had a wonderful breakfast at the hotel and another little stroll in the gardens before we checked out of the hotel and got in the car to put our bags in the hotel we were staying in for the rest of my stay. This is also a great hotel and better located for us with regards to the people we were visiting.
