At the end of Oldevatnet, we parked our car in a car park. In beautiful surroundings, the Weather being perfect for hiking we decided to walk up to the Briksdal glacier.
The hike was quite easy, but the nature around was lovely. The weather having been very dry all summer meant that the waterfalls were not as spectacular as they would normally be, but I was taken by the beauty of nature regardless.
The glacier lies on the north side of the Jostedalsbreen, in Briksdalen (the Briks valley). Briksdalsbreen terminates in a small glacial lake, Briksdalsbrevatnet, which lies 346 metres (1,135 ft) above sea level.
For those who can’t do the hike it is possible to get a ride up in small cars, called troll cars. But it was lovely to do the walk, and as I said. Not very arduous.
