Top 10 movies of 2014

Tags: movie trailer
Hey!

In this post I'm going to share with you the top 10 movies that I think are the best made in 2014. So many great movies were released in 2014, so it was pretty difficult to pick ten, but I have managed to narrow them down so lets get going!
Enjoy!

10. Interstellar

  1. In Earth's future, a global crop blight and second Dust Bowl are slowly rendering the planet uninhabitable. Professor Brand (Michael Caine), a brilliant NASA physicist, is working on plans to save mankind by transporting Earth's population to a new home via a wormhole. But first, Brand must send former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and a team of researchers through the wormhole and across the galaxy to find out which of three planets could be mankind's new home.

This was a pretty epic Movie. It had awesome effects in it and was definately gripping. I enjoyed it a lot but I guess it is of a certain genre that some people wouldn't enjoy.

    9. American Sniper

    1. U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission -- protect his comrades -- to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents. Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq. However, when he finally returns home, he finds that he cannot leave the war behind.
This movie was great, but it definately had me with my tissues out. But really, this movie had to be good, it has Bradley Cooper in it!

    8. The LEGO movie

    1. Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary LEGO figurine who always follows the rules, is mistakenly identified as the Special -- an extraordinary being and the key to saving the world. He finds himself drafted into a fellowship of strangers who are on a mission to stop an evil tyrant's (Will Ferrell) plans to conquer the world. Unfortunately for Emmet, he is hopelessly -- and hilariously -- unprepared for such a task, but he'll give it his all nonetheless.
This movie had to be added in. I know that it's pretty stupid, but the talent behind the making of this movie is immense. I mean, it took like 2-4 years to make, that's a lot of dedication!

    7. Godzilla

    1. Ford Brody (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a Navy bomb expert, has just reunited with his family in San Francisco when he is forced to go to Japan to help his estranged father, Joe (Bryan Cranston). Soon, both men are swept up in an escalating crisis when Godzilla, King of the Monsters, arises from the sea to combat malevolent adversaries that threaten the survival of humanity. The creatures leave colossal destruction in their wake, as they make their way toward their final battleground: San Francisco.
I gotta say, I'm not too sure about this one. I mean, it's a good movie, but there are just so many versions! It's kinda getting old. But, it is still in my top 10, as it was pretty good, and there were some really awesome scenes.

    6. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

    1. Ten years after simian flu wiped out much of the world's homosapiens, genetically enhanced chimpanzee Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his ever-growing band of followers have established a thriving colony just outside San Francisco in Muir Woods. Meanwhile, a small band of human survivors emerges, which forces Caesar -- as leader -- to grapple with the dual challenge of protecting his people and re-establishing a relationship with the remaining human population -- the latter being Caesar's secret wish.
I freaking LOVED this movie! It was so awesome! I loved the first one too. It was a really good follow up, and to be honest, it scared me a little haha.

    5. Divergent

    1. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) lives in a futuristic world in which society is divided into five factions. As each person enters adulthood, he or she must choose a faction and commit to it for life. Tris chooses Dauntless -- those who pursue bravery above all else. However, her initiation leads to the discovery that she is a Divergent and will never be able to fit into just one faction. Warned that she must conceal her status, Tris uncovers a looming war which threatens everyone she loves.
Not gonna lie, this is one of my favorite movies. I really love Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, and Theo James is just...
I'm surprised that it didn't get better reviews to be honest. The reviews really did surprise me.

    4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

    1. Following her rescue from the devastating Quarter Quell, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) awakes in the complex beneath the supposedly destroyed District 13. Her home, District 12, has been reduced to rubble, and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is now the brainwashed captive of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). At the same time, Katniss also learns about a secret rebellion spreading throughout all of Panem -- a rebellion that will place her at the center of a plot to turn the tables on Snow.

I was quite disappointed when I found out that the final book would be created as 2 seperate movies, but I was still happy that they were coming out. We were all left with a cliff hanger at the end of part 1, and have to wait until Nov 2015 for part 2. People who have not read the book are killing to find out what happens!

    3. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

    1. Having reclaimed Erebor and vast treasure from the dragon Smaug, Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) sacrifices friendship and honor in seeking the Arkenstone, despite Smaug's fiery wrath and desperate attempts by the Hobbit Bilbo (Martin Freeman) to make him see reason. Meanwhile, Sauron sends legions of Orcs in a sneak attack upon the Lonely Mountain. As the fate of Middle Earth hangs in the balance, the races of Men, Elves and Dwarves must decide whether to unite and prevail -- or all die.
I'm gonna be honest, The Hobbit just doesn't do it for me. I get kinda bored half way through, as it just drags on, but to many people this was a really important & exciting release.

    2. LUCY

    1. When a boyfriend tricks Lucy (Scarlett Johansson) into delivering a briefcase to a supposed business contact, the once-carefree student is abducted by thugs who intend to turn her into a drug mule. She is surgically implanted with a package containing a powerful chemical, but it leaks into her system, giving her superhuman abilities, including telekinesis and telepathy. With her former captors in pursuit, Lucy seeks out a neurologist (Morgan Freeman), who she hopes will be able to help her.
This movie started out really good, but did get a little too Hollywood. Nevertheless, it was a well-made movie, and I enjoyed it a lot. Plus, I really like Scarlett Johansson!

    1. Boyhood

    1. The joys and pitfalls of growing up are seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (Ellar Coltrane), his parents (Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke) and his sister (Lorelei Linklater). Vignettes, filmed with the same cast over the course of 12 years, capture family meals, road trips, birthday parties, graduations and other important milestones. Songs from Coldplay, Arcade Fire and other artists capture the time period. Directed by Richard Linklater.
This movie changed my life. It is so great with and excellent story line and brilliant acting. Seriously, if you haven't seen it then you definitely should!! It is my favorite movie of 2014 I think.
