The talented young rapper Donald Glover, whose stage name is Childish Gambino, is known for many talents. He brought a great mix of nerdy humor along with childlike enthusiasm and unabashed honesty on the screen at the celebrated cult comedy TV show Community. He was almost going to be the very first neighborhood Spiderman, which we all know did not transpire, leaving several fans heart –broken. But all that is about to change, as the animated screen will soon have Donald Glover’s voice as the superhero. Glover has been pointed out as the rising star of this generation, for his many talents, which include acting, music, writing and comedy. Glover began his acting career with the TV show Community for NBC as Troy Barnes. Although he left the show after 5 episodes into the fifth season, but his character still remains in the minds and hearts of his fans. Troy along with his socially awkward, nerdy friend Abed is portrayed being in a constant conundrum between the fantasies they enjoyed as their teenage selves and the force of reality that’s catapulting them to fast-forward adulthood. Like most other pop culture and TV shows of our times, the characters are given the humble duty of showcasing their unabashed nerdy side and celebrate geekdom with several references to cult movies, shows, comics and sci-fi. This they did all while being in a limbo of college life in a wacky community college setting along with an equally eclectic diverse study group turned friends.

While the show was canceled after 5 successful seasons, enjoying the status of a cult favorite of our times, however Yahoo! Came to help and took the burden of the show from the hands of NBC. They are set to run the 6th and final season and also air a movie based on a line taken from show itself “six seasons and a movie”. While Glover is going to return to Community for the last season, there is no information if he will star in the movie.

After graduating from the prestigious NYU’s Tisch School of Arts with a degree on Dramatic Writing in 2006, he joined NBC as a staff writer. He had already got the job lined up for him and made great chops of comedic word play at the hit TV show 30 Rock. During his tenure as a staff writer the show garnered two Emmy’s as being an outstanding comedy. He also made several cameo appearances on the show.

Glover’s second album under the name “Because the Internet” also launched with an online multimedia screenplay at the site becausetheinter.net. It had a 70-page document that showcased his style of experimental writing, it featured an amazing dialogue riff using Internet jargon, pop culture analysis and a keen look on the relationship between technology and social isolation.

Chock-full of introspective nuanced verses mixed in with punchy lines that delve deep into the emotions and experiences of the youth.

His recent releases Because of the Internet and later Deep Web Tour showcases his versatility as an artist, as he is juxtaposed with the album Camp that was experimental, nebulous and moody.

He is also first a comedian who has co-founded the sketch comedy group DERRICK Comedy that received success on YouTube.
