Singapore Airport is Getting an Amusement Park
Readers of Travel + Leisure have voted the Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore as the best in the world for its unusual amenities, including gardens, butterflies, two movie theaters, toy stores, video arcades, a playground, and inflated animals. Soon, Singapore Airport will go to another level when it adds its very own five-story amusement park. Designed by award-winning architect, Moshe Safdie, the park will be enclosed in a huge glass structure – complete with a 131-foot waterfall and all kinds of other features.
The mega-airport is one of the biggest in the world, serving nearly 60 million passengers annually. To keep them entertained, they’ve installed some of the best shops, an outdoor pool and observation deck, a 24-hour movie theater, a butterfly garden, and free Wi-Fi. That’s why it’s been named the best airport in the world in Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards year after year.
When the Jewel mixed-use complex opens in early 2019, the addition of unique play attractions, a five-story indoor garden, hotel chain YOTEL, multiple shopping and dining options will create a world-class lifestyle destination.
“Not only will Jewel capture the hearts and minds of travelers and boost Singapore’s appeal as a transit hub, it will enhance the Changi Airport experience for our passengers and visitors,” said Ms Jean Hung, CEO, Jewel Changi Airport Devt. “More importantly, it will be a space where Singapore meets the world to allow for sharing of ideas at the doorstep of Changi Airport.”
The attractions at Canopy Park are the third centerpiece of Jewel along with the Forest Valley, a five-story garden filled with thousands of trees, plants, ferns and shrubs, and the 40-metre high Rain Vortex, currently the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
The park is set to open in 2019 and will only add to this already revolutionary airport.
