Chapter 1: Shen do Shen
Once upon a time there was a dark wutang instructor named Shen do Shen, and that time is now! Shen do Shen is an instructor in a low income community a few miles southwest of West Eastville. His students have come to be known as the Shabba Babba Heads. Though the reasoning for the nickname has been lost over the years, the words Shabba Babba are reference to criminals who study martial arts to improve their crime committing characteristics, such as stealing faster or attacking a pedestrian for their money.
Master Shen do, who was my opponent in kung fu training from our days as young student many centuries ago, and who later studied under Hoblin, another great master who was passed down the ancient wutang secrets of martial arts from both of our masters' master, which would be our grandmaster, the great Grandmaster Hoblin. Master Hoblin did not believe in financial wealth, because he believed it led to greed and personal ruin, so he taught his kung fu in the poor communities, where he could focus his teachings on those most likely to understand the deeper meaning.
My master Hoblin passed down to me the ancient shaolin secrets of martial arts, which he learned alongside Hoblin when they were both students of Hoblin many, many centuries ago. My master Hoblin later came to realize the hidden power of a very secret shaolin style known as Swimming Dragon and developed it into the form of qigong I instruct my students with to this day.
I address Master Shen do by his first name Shen, as he is not my master or my friend, and he addresses me as Chen for the very same reason. However, our students still maintain a very strict level of respect for either of us or our masters before us, as a form of respect to their own kung fu masters. That is to say, Shen do's students show me the same respect they show Shen do, and my students respect Shen do the same they would me.
Shen do wants to visit a distant colony that recently emerged on the stellar maps far passed the neutral zone in the Lackluster Cluster, approximately ten stellar systems away in the northern quadrant's easterly direction. Interstellar travel is limited in our kingdom to business and emergency purposes only, for both traveling from our system to another one and traveling from a distant stellar system to ours.
