Despite new year celebrations, the lawmaker representing Ondo West/East Federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Joseph Iranola Akinlaja, on Monday, January 1st, 2018 inspected some petrol stations in Ondo West to check exorbitant prices being charged by the marketers and to cushion the effects of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) scarcity in Nigeria.
Akinlaja who is also Chairman House of Representatives committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream visited Afem Oil & Gas, Bis- Da- Bay Nig limited and Flory Mummy petroleum, while others absconded on the knowledge that the the federal lawmaker and his team would be coming for inspection of the sales of the product.
Hon. Akinlaja during the tour was accompanied by his legislative aides, a team of men of Nigeria police, members of the press and members of the committee for the defence of human right CDHR, among others.
It is also on record that Hon Joseph Akinlaja led delegation had on Sunday, December 31st, 2017 summoned three members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers of Nigeria (IPMAN) to appear before the Federal House of Representatives for selling fuel above the official price and contributing to the hardship of the acute supply of the Petroleum product.
Akinlaja explained that his Committee had been directed by the Speaker of the Lower Chamber, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, to suspend their recess to find a lasting solutions to the fuel scarcity in the country and to also look into activities of those contributing to economic sabotage in the country.
