The Travel Diaries: Porto, Portugal

A few weeks or so ago, I took a trip to the beautiful country of Portugal with my family- and it would be unjust if I didn't slip in how much I truly loved the trip! The cuisine, culture, sights and whatnot all caught my eye, and perhaps my heart too- so what better way to pass my blogging days than to share with you some photos and Key Points of interest, am I right?

Only one word can describe the city of Porto: stunning! There's something that truly strikes me about Porto as a city, perhaps it's the array of never-ending street art- or the masses of beautiful architecture that cannot be explored within a day. So, where did we visit? Let me highlight some key points of interest now...
• Ponte de Dom Luis I (or the bridge, if your Portuguese skills are failing like mine!). If you're into breathtaking views, here's where to get your daily dose- provided you're not fearful of heights! There are a few options when it comes to this bridge, you can: cross it by foot on both the lower and upper decks (around 8-9pm is amazing for sunset lighting), take the underground, or even the cable car- which can get you up to the upper level from the lower.

Clerigos Tower- not for the faint-hearted! A 225 step journey can take you to the top of the 76m tower- overlooking the city of Porto and promising some incredible photographs! However, be aware that it does tend to get very crowded- something that doesn't work in the favour of the narrow, steep stairway.

Livraria Lellothe place to go if you're into books, Harry Potter vibes and beautiful staircases! Even for tourists like you and I, there are a variety of languages and genres to choose from if you want to buy a book or two- though dare I say it, prices are inflation at its highest!

Wine Tasting and Cellar Tours! Porto has a countless number of firms who offer this (I mean... where better to go to try Port wine?), but we chose to go to Sandeman- located on the Cais da Ribeira. For 10 euros, you can take a guided tour around the wine cellars followed by a tasting of their Ruby and Tawny port (included in the price). While the experience itself was fairly short, it was certainly unmissable provided we were in the area famous for Port wines!

Street Art, if you're into street art (or just want a pretty picture for the 'gram)... Porto has plenty picks for you to choose from, take the portrait in the slideshow as an example! There's even a street art tour, isn't that interesting?

As I also fell in love with Portuguese cuisine over this week (ish), I thought it would also be a good idea to share with you my two favourite restaurants we visited...

- Brasao Cervejaria Aliados, I mean... what a beautiful, beautiful restaurant! Not only that, but the food was also incredible and cooked to perfection- if you want to try Portuguese cuisine, this restaurant will have something for you!
- Madeira Taste, what an impression left on the first day! The staff could not be any more lovely, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Needless to mention also, the food too did not disappoint- again, offering local Portuguese cuisine cooked deliciously.

So... that was a short little post with a few of my travel highlights! Are you going anywhere exciting soon? Let me know in the comments below!
