Each box will include a collection of products (chosen by Ellen!) that are cruelty free, sustainably sourced, and ethically made. These “products with a purpose” come from brands who do good and give back to their community, so you can feel good about supporting them. A full-color magazine provided details on all of the items included in this quarter’s box, as well as additional offers from Ellen’s online shop.
Heart Cheese Board ($40 value)
Aww, how cute is this little cheese board?! While obviously intended for cheese, it can also be used to display desserts or even as a mini charcuterie board. I couldn’t find much information about its origin, but I’m assuming it’s made of bamboo. It’s also an easy-t0-store size, measuring roughly 8.5 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch tall.
Cheese Knives Set ($15 value)
To go along with the board, Ellen also included a matching set of cheese knives! As a longtime vegan who was never a big fan of hard cheeses, I admittedly had to Google exactly what types of knives were featured and what they were for. Based on my findings I’m going to go ahead and say that the set included a cheddar cheese knife (the rectangular one, used for semi-hard to hard cheeses), a cheese fork (the tonged one. ), and a parmesan knife (curved/pointed one, used for hard & dry cheeses like parmesan).
100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream ($29 value)
It can be tricky to find a good eye cream that’s vegan-friendly, so I was excited to see one included in this season’s box. Not only is this cream vegan, but it’s also gluten free and made without any harsh ingredients. The formula features a potent blend of caffeine, rosehip oil, Vitamins C & E, and other natural ingredients that work together to boost circulation, collagen production, and antioxidant protection. Peace out, dark circles & puffiness!
Full Circle Ziptuck Reusable Lunch Set ($7.99)
These eco-friendly reusable bags from Full Circle are great alternative to those wasteful single-use brands. Affordable to, as each Ziptuck bag can replace up to 500 of the traditional single use ones! Included in the set above were 1 sandwich bag (8 inches x 8 inches with a 3.5 cup capacity) and 1 snack bag (7 inches x 4.6 inches with a 1.5 cup capacity) — both with the same pretty palm leaf design. The bags are BPA/BPS/PVC-free, leak-proof, and freezer-safe. To clean, simply hand wash with warm soapy water.
Full Circle Tough Sheet Reusable Plant Towels ($9.99 value)
Another eco-friendly swap from Full Circle, this roll of reusable “plant towels” is the equivalent of up to 30 rolls of traditional paper towels! That means that each individual sheet should be able to last you roughly 1 week (or up to 50 hand washes). The tree-free towels are made of 100% rayon from bamboo and are able to absorb 7 times their weight. Impressive!
Booksio E-Book or Audio Book – Slightly South of Simple by Kristy Woodson Harvey ($35 value)
Summer’s box included a book — but in a lighter, more eco-friendly digital form. Booksio is a woman-owned online bookstore that donates 10% of all profits each month to charity. They’ve provided each subscriber with a code to redeem Kristy Woodson Harvey’s “Slightly South of Simple” in either eBook or audio book format. “Exploring the powerful bonds between sisters and mothers and daughters, this engaging novel is filled with Southern charm, emotional drama, and plenty of heart.”
Mineral Fusion Hydro-Shine Lip Gloss Bundle ($29.98)
Mineral Fusion’s Hydro-Shine glosses are hypoallergenic, vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and contain no harsh ingredients, artificial fragrances, or parabens. The box contained not one, but two of these awesome glosses! “Jaipur” is a pretty dark peachy-pink shade, while “Bermuda” is more of a pale orange-y pink color. My daughters are both already trying to steal these, so I likely won’t be able to locate them at the conclusion of this review. Kids…
Vahdam Tropical Paradise Summer Tea Assortment ($35 value)
Vahdam Teas are handpicked in India, climate and plastic-neutral, and packaged to preserve their peak freshness. This special Vahdam x BE KIND assortment contained two sachets of each of the following teas:
- Sweet Himalayan (green)
- Lemon Ginger (green)
- Vanilla Spiced (chai)
- Chamomile Mint Citrus (green)
- Turmeric Ginger (herbal)
Sometimes I like to alternate between tea and coffee in the morning, so these are a welcome addition to my tea/coffee drawer.
Sabina Fenn Postcard Set ($15 value)
The final item was a set of lovely postcards from Sabina Fenn — the Canadian artist responsible for this month’s box design. Sabina is inspired by the “little things” in nature that can sometimes be overlooked. The cards above are great for sending a note to a faraway friend, or simply popping in a frame to display in your home.
