My April 2023 Simply Earth box has arrived!
Simply Earth is a monthly subscription box that sends you a selection of Essential oils along with recipes for enjoying them. Each box will include 4 full size bottles of 100% pure essential oils, 5-6 themed recipes, and other related materials. A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed April’s theme: “Cleaning”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
April’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:

- Clean & Fresh Dish Soap
- Up & At ‘Em Roll-On Blend
- 1-2-3 Laundry Sheet
- Dish Tab Oven Cleaner
- Spic and Span Diffuser Blend
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.

Simply Earth Sweet Orange Essential Oil
Citrus scents are my absolute favorite, so I was happy to see Sweet Orange included in this month’s box. In ancient times, dried orange peels were often used in Chinese medicine to treat coughs and colds. Today we use its oil for a variety of purposes, including to help promote rest, support heart wellness, brighten the skin, uplift your mood, and more.
Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.
Simply Earth Homebody Essential Oil Blend
The first blend of April’s box, “Homebody” contains a warm & woody combination of ho wood, amyris, copaiba, and vetiver essential oils. When creating this blend, Simply Earth chose oils that evoke an atmosphere of calmness that makes everyone feel at home.
Simply Earth Clean & Fresh Essential Oil Blend
Clean & Fresh was the second blend featured in April’s box and is comprised of fir needle, lemon, grapefruit, and neroli essential oils. It’s great for killing germs and is a much better alternative to the toxic ingredients found in most store-bought household cleaners.
Simply Earth Black Pepper Essential Oil
I had actually never heard of black pepper essential oil, so I was a little surprised to see it in this month’s box. I’ve come to find out that black pepper is great for many non-culinary uses — including aiding in digestion, promoting circulation, cleaning, detoxifying, balancing cravings, and more.
Dishwasher Tab
Simply Earth has just released some new cleaning products — three of which were included in this month’s box. Up first was the dishwasher tab above (that’s SLS-free, fragrance-free, and PEG-free) to get your dishes clean without the need for harsh chemicals.
Laundry Detergent Sheet
Next up was this mess-free, environmentally friendly laundry detergent sheet. To use, just pop into the drum of your washing machine and allow it to clean your clothes without the need for harsh chemical detergents. Each sheet is SLS-free, dye-free, and fragrance free.
Swedish Dishcloth
The final newly released product was the cute Swedish dishcloth above. These reusable cloths are designed to reduce your need for disposable paper towels. (Fun fact: A single Swedish towel can replace up to 12 rolls of paper towels with regular use!) The dishcloths are not only adorable, but also totally compostable.
Castile Soap
While not a new product, the castile soap above is still a pretty great one. I always have a good supply of castile soap at the ready for making homemade foaming hand soap, which is what this will be used for. It’s derived from 100% natural ingredients and can be used for a variety of cleaning jobs.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Spic and Span Diffuser Blend
As always, this “recipe” was incredibly easy and simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the comforting aroma fill the room.
Spic and Span Master Blend
Every monthly diffuser recipe also comes with instructions for making a “master blend” that gives you a pre-made supply to use as you wish.
Supplies needed: Homebody Essential Oil Blend, Clean & Fresh Essential Oil Blend, Black Pepper Essential Oil, and Sweet Orange Essential Oil, and a 5 mL bottle*.

All you have to do is pour the specified amount of essential oils into the bottle…
…add the provided label — and you’re done!
Clean & Fresh Dish Soap
Supplies needed: Castile Soap, Clean & Fresh Essential Oil Blend, 1 oz Bottle.
For this dish soap recipe, I decided to use a small glass bottle that I already had at home. (You could also use the plastic bottle that the castile soap came in.) This was another simple recipe that just involved combining the specified amount of castile soap with essential oils.
Once the soap was made, I simply applied the provided label sticker and I was good to go (clean).
Up & At ‘Em Roll-On Blend
Supplies needed: Homebody Essential Oil Blend, Black Pepper Essential Oil, fractionated coconut oil*, and a 10mL Roll-On Bottle*.

Another easy recipe that simply involved placing a specified amount of essential oils drops into the roll-on bottle and filling the rest up with fractionated coconut oil.
Then just replace the cap and carefully position the sticker/label & you’re done!
