My January 2023 Simply Earth box has arrived!
Simply Earth is a monthly subscription box that sends you a selection of Essential oils along with recipes for enjoying them. A peek inside!
An info card (printed on the back of one of the recipe cards) revealed January’s theme: “Beauty”. It listed this month’s featured oils, along with any included extras. It also provided a few safety tips for each oil/blend.
A note from Katie — recipe formulator & certified aromatherapist — revealed a bit more about this month’s theme.
January’s recipes provided clear instructions for whipping up the following:
- Sweet Dreams Natural Lotion
- Intention Diffuser Blend
- Luxurious Lavender Body Polish
- Clarifying Honey Solid Lotion Bar
- Fresh & Floral Body Milk
- At Peace Roll-On
A sheet of pre-printed stickers was also included for labeling your creations.

Simply Earth Oregano Essential Oil
Like the spice itself, oregano essential oil has a sharp and herbaceous scent. Some of its many non-culinary uses include aiding in digestion, supporting joint function, easing seasonal discomfort, cleansing the skin, supporting healthy cholesterol, and more.
Every Simply Earth oil is printed with a Simply Pure Promise that ensures that the product has been quality tested and is 100% pure. Ingredients are also clearly printed on every label.
Simply Earth Sweet Dreams Essential Oil
January’s box has not one, but two pre-made essential oil blends. The first is “Sweet Dreams” — which consists of marjoram, lavender, cedarwood, chamomile, and frankincense. It’s specially formulated to promote calm feelings and emotions, resulting in a more restful sleep. My husband and I often diffuse oils at bedtime, so I’m excited to try this custom blend!
Simply Earth Peace & Quiet Essential Oil
The second blend of this month’s box was “Peace & Quiet”. Much like “Sweet Dreams”, this is also a great choice to help you to relax and feel more calm & centered. It contains a soothing, slightly fruity blend of sweet orange, frankincense, cedarwood, and lime essential oils.
Simply Earth Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil
“Lavender 40/42” is a mixture of different batches of lavender essential oil that gives it that classic lavender scent. To achieve this, it contains 40% linalool & 42% linalyl acetate. It has a more floral/traditional scent than the more fruity “Lavender Bulgarian” that Simply Earth also offers. Lavender (in any variant) is great for aiding in sleep, promoting healthy hair & skin, supporting the immune system, soothing head discomfort, and so much more.
Simply Earth Soap Mold
A small blue silicone mold was provided to use in conjunction with the “Clarifying Honey Solid Lotion Bar” recipe. It can be used for handmade bar soap, solid lotion bars, shampoo bars, and more.
Emulsifying Wax
Emulsifying wax is the go-to product for giving your DIY recipes texture and consistency. It allows you to mix oil and water in lotion recipes and also prolongs its shelf life. A 1 ounce packet was provided for use with four of this month’s recipes.
Vegetable Glycerin
The final “extra” provided was vegetable glycerin. I’m already familiar with this, as I regularly use it to make homemade foaming hand soap. It’s a natural humectant that helps draw water into your skin to moisturize & improve its appearance.
Here are the recipes that I’ve made so far:
Luxurious Lavender Body Polish
Supplies needed: Almond Oil*, Emulsifying Wax, Granulated Sugar, Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil, 4oz Sealable Container.
*Included in Big Bonus Box.
First, I needed to melt 4 tsp of emulsifying wax into 1/4 cup almond oil. I did two 30-second intervals in the microwave and it was fully liquified.
Next, I added the required amount of essential oil (60 drops).
After mixing in the oil, I added 3 tbsp of granulated sugar and stirred until combined.
I then poured the finished product into a small glass jar and added the appropriate label. — So easy!
Intention Diffuser Blend
Supplies needed: Sweet Dreams Essential Oil Blend, Peace & Quiet Essential Oil Blend, Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil, and Oregano Essential Oil.
As always, this “recipe” was incredibly easy and simply required me to fill my diffuser with water, then add the specified amount drops of each of the essential oils above. Once added, I switched on the diffuser and let the soothing aroma fill the room.
Intention Master Blend
Every monthly diffuser recipe also comes with instructions for making a “master blend” that gives you a pre-made supply to use as you wish.
Supplies needed: Sweet Dreams Essential Oil Blend, Peace & Quiet Essential Oil Blend, Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil, Oregano Essential Oil, and a 5 mL bottle*.

All you have to do is pour the specified amount of essential oils into the bottle…
…add the provided labels — and you’re done!

Supplies needed: Sweet Dreams Essential Oil Blend, Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil, Peace & Quiet Essential Oil Blend, fractionated coconut oil*, and a 10mL Roll-On Bottle*.
