GirlCratery Subscription Box Review & Coupon Code – “Jewelry” Box

GirlCratery is a monthly subscription box designed for empowering and inspiring young girls to explore all the possibilities in the world around them.

Born from the inspiration of the Girl Scout experience*, each monthly crate is crafted with hands-on activities, access to online programming, and specially Themed products that will encourage girls to try new things, exercise their own creativity, and help develop a strong sense of self. The crates are put together with girl input — tested out with real girls ages 5-11 — and consist of themed products, an at home activity, collectable stickers and an exclusive fun patch.*GirlCratery was developed by Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways. Crates can also be purchased by troops or groups from any organization. If you share your non-profit exemption form, you can buy without paying tax.

What sets Girlcratery apart from other subscription boxes is the ongoing social interaction with peers. — Not only will you receive an awesome crate on your doorstep each month, you’ll also have FREE access to a community of “Cratologists” (fellow GirlCratery subscribers) exploring alongside you through a fun, collaborative learning experience.

Subscriptions are $25.99/month (plus shipping), or less with multi-month plans. — For a limited time, you can save 15% on your first month with coupon code “MORESUMMER“!

Let’s see what’s in the GirlCratery “Jewelry” themed box!

Everything was shipped in a brown “crate” box with the GirlCratery logo on top.

A peek inside! — I received the “Jewelry” themed box for review.

I didn’t see any type of information/theme card, so let’s just jump into the projects/items!

Above is everything included in our “Jewelry” themed GirlCratery box.

Bead Pet Ice Cream Cone Project

Full disclosure: I had to Google what a “bead pet” was and found out that it’s basically a cute DIY charm/keychain made with plastic beads. The kit above contains all the materials needed to make your very own “Ice Cream Cone” bead pet!

To begin, we scanned the QR code to access the video and arranged all of the beads by color.

We then pulled the string through the metal clip and secured it to the table with some tape. Following the instructions on the video, we began stringing on the beads as indicated.

We continued adding beads until the ice cream cone was complete.

All done! — It turned out really cute. 🙂

DIY Jewelry Box

This was a simple project that consisted of a small paperboard lidded box, foam sticker shapes, and multi-colored jewels. There were no instructions provided, but it’s easy enough to figure out that you simply need to decorate the box with stickers and gems.

My daughter got right to work adhering all of the foam stickers to the “box” and lid.

Adding jewels.

The finished product! 🙂

Bracelet Disc Kit

The kit above consisted of a wooden bracelet wheel, 5 skeins of embroidery string, and both a printed and a video tutorial.

We began by measuring out four 14-inch strings in two different colors. — So eight 14″ strings in all.

Next, we tied a knot at the end of all 8 strings and pushed it/them through the hole in the center of the bracelet wheel.

We followed the first steps on both the instruction sheet and in the video…

…but only made it this far.

To be honest, I knew this project was going to be a bit challenging for the girls so I wasn’t expecting them to complete it. In fact, I had trouble myself trying to make sense of it. Just seemed like an unnecessarily complicated way to make a bracelet. 😉

Metal Stamping Kit

Girls can try their hand at basic metal stamping with the kit above which includes two metal discs, a stamper, and both a printed and a video tutorial.

We began by placing the metal disc(s) onto a cutting board (to protect the table) and drawing out a simple design with marker.

We then used the included stamper to hammer tiny hearts onto our design. The discs came with clear protective films, which were removed afterwards — also removing any leftover marker residue.

The disc above was supposed to be a “C”. 😉

Silver Bangle Charm Bracelets

Along with the projects, we also received some ready-to-wear jewelry — including this pair of pretty silver bangle charm bracelets. Both bracelets are made in the USA, with one featuring a silver shamrock charm and the other, a cute little butterfly.

One of my kiddos is obsessed with butterflies and couldn’t wait to try her new bracelet on. 😀

Pura Vida Bracelet

We also received a branded bracelet from Pura Vida.

Stickers

Every GirlCratery box comes with themed stickers. The “Jewelry” box included three: A cute diamond character with the phrase “Stronger under pressure!”, a pile of colorful jewels with the phrase “You’re a gem!”, and a small round GirlCratery logo sticker.

Themed Patch

In keeping with their Girl Scout roots, each box also includes a themed activity patch. 🙂

My daughters (and I) had fun exploring GirlCratery‘s “Jewelry” themed activity box. Most of the activities were fairly easy to complete without much adult supervision, though the bracelet wheel was a bit too tricky even for myself. 😉 The girls’ favorite projects were the Ice Cream Bead Pet, DIY Jewelry Box, and Metal Stamping. They also loved the charm bracelets and cute stickers. 🙂 — If you’d like to try GirlCratery, for a limited time you can save 15% on your first month with coupon code “MORESUMMER“!
