Let’s see what’s in the Fall 2021 Earthlove Box!

Everything was shipped in a brown box with a yellow Earthlove Box sticker securing it closed.

A peek inside!

A full-color info booklet/magazine included a list of everything inside the box, as well as brief descriptions and retail values for each one. It also include articles on eating more mindfully, 35 ways to use produce bags, getting started with microgreens, and more.

The Backyard Herbal Apothecary by Devon Young ($16.89, Amazon)

Every Earthlove Box includes one of three different books that you get to choose from, as voted on by active subscribers. The Fall 2021 selections were Ignite Your Light by Jolene Hart, Eat Like a Fish by Bren Smith, or the title shown above.

From Amazon:

Your garden or neighborhood could hold all the plants and herbs you need to treat everything from respiratory issues to nerve pain to colic using natural remedies that are just as good for your body as they are for the environment. The Backyard Herbal Apothecary is packed to the brim with information on 50 different plants, recipes for 56 remedies and beautiful photography on every page.

Devon Young, founder of the holistic lifestyle blog Nitty Gritty Life, is a trained herbalist and is well practiced in developing and implementing herbal remedies. As a result, each of Devon’s recipes is a natural and effective tonic for your health concerns. Use cottonwood to make a salve for achy joints, heal minor bumps and bruises with the common yard daisy, infuse some nettle to make an allergy–season combating tincture and so much more, all using safe and locally foraged plants.

Poignant, captivating writing awakens the senses as you learn about the healing quality of each plant and discover how to grow and forage plants and herbs in a safe and sustainable way.

I was excited to see this book as a selection, as I’ve been wanting to learn more about beneficial herbs and plants that may be growing right in my own backyard. I think it’s partly due to my obsession with the show Alone and being impressed by the participant’s knowledge of edible/medicinal plants. 😉

Urban Leaf Microgreens Grow Kit ($45 value)

I’ve been trying to focus on a more whole foods plant-based diet, so this kit came at the perfect time. I’m almost finished with the book Fiber Fueled, which focuses on eating a large diversity of plant foods to maximize your gut health. Microgreens definitely fit into that plan! The kit above includes everything you need to grow 4 organic microgreens (lentils, mustard, kale, radish) in as little as 7 days. The reusable trays and lids were made in the USA from biodegradable & compostable materials and the 100% organic grow mats serve as a self-watering hydroponic system so you can just “set it and forget it”. I’m excited about that last part, as I tend to either under- or over-water any plant I try to grow. The kit contains enough seeds for 9 harvests and additional seeds/materials can be purchased on the Urban Leaf website.

Lotus Sustainables Produce Bags (Set of 3) ($14 value)

These reusable produce bags are a nice eco-friendly alternative to the traditional plastic version you find at your grocery store. The set above includes 3 100% raw organic cotton mesh bags in small (fits about 6 plums), medium (fits 8 apples), and large (up to 14 peaches). Each bag features a drawstring closure and is machine washable. Don’t want to use them for produce? They’re also great for storing toys, delicates for washing, art supplies, shoes, tennis balls, and more.

Upcycled SCUBA Necklace with Turquoise Howlite by Gogh Jewelry Design ($29 value)

Designed exclusively for Earthlove subscribers, this necklace is made from O-rings that have been discarded from scuba gear. Instead of throwing them in the landfill, jewelry designer & diver Szilvia Gogh saves these rings (and other materials) and repurposes them into gorgeous statement pieces to show that even zero waste jewelry can be beautiful. The necklace also features a small turquoise gem — a symbol of wisdom, tranquility, protection, good fortune, and hope. Such a fun, unique piece!

Spirit Wild Farms Seasonal Art Print ($18 value)

With my new focus on eating a more diverse selection of fruits & veggies, this print is a great reminder of all the delicious produce options we have throughout the seasons. Earthbox subscribers voted on making healthy and mindful food choices this season, which was the inspiration behind this colorful 8×10 print. Now to find a spot to hang it…

STAMBA Daily Superfood Blend ($65 value)

These sustainably sourced veggie capsules are packed with digestive enzymes, prebiotics, and dietary fiber that help optimize your digestive, metabolic, and excretory systems. STAMBA creates the superfood powder blend for their capsules from freeze-drying and cold processing pure whole foods. These methods preserve the effectiveness and potency of the ingredients in the best form for your body, delivering maximum benefits. The capsules are vegan, non-GMO, and gluten free. Although I’m not opposed to trying new supplements, I’m just not sure I want to get started on something that requires 4 capsules/serving and costs $65 per bottle (which would last roughly 16 days if I took 1 serving/day).

Sea Witch Botanicals Pearl Rose Lip + Cheek Tint ($8 value)

This versatile product can be used not only as a shimmery lip tint, but also as a subtle blush or light eyeshadow. It was handmade using ethically sourced, all natural ingredients including cocoa butter, coconut oil, avocado oil, and candelilla wax. It’s 100% plant-based and vegan-friendly!

Juniper Ridge Sage Smudge Stick ($6 value)

Sage is known as a natural purifier that can be used to eliminate harmful bacteria from the air. It can also transform the energy of the body & mind and support the feng shui or energy of a home. To use this smudge stick, simply ignite it with a match or lighter — making sure to do so with a clear mind and good intentions. Hold at about a 45 degree angle pointing the tip down toward the flame, allowing it to burn for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and then blow out. Then, with smoking sage stick in hand, walk around your workspace, home, car, bathroom or anywhere you would like to clear the energy.

The Fall 2021 Earthlove Box included a great collection of useful eco-friendly products and resources that I’m excited to dive into. My favorite items were the Backyard Herbal Apothecary book, Urban Leaf Microgreens Kit, Seasonal Art Print, Lotus Organic Produce Bags, and Gogh Jewelry Upcycled Scuba Necklace. The total retail value of everything in this quarter’s box was an impressive $201.89! — Remember, for a limited time you can save $5 on your first box with coupon code “LOVETHEEARTH“!
