Let’s see what’s in my June 2017 Veggie Buds Super Club box!

Everything was shipped in a padded bubble mailer with a Veggie Buds Club sticker in the center.

A peek inside!

A handwritten note was included — nice touch! — which ended with a cute little drawing of peas in a pea pod. Aww!

An info card revealed June’s theme (Peas!) and listed everything I’d find inside.

Mini activity book, crayons, “pea” pom poms, and incentive stickers.

The first page featured a pledge to eat peas, along with a chart to place stickers each time your child eats them. Next was a cute “Be Hap-pea” coloring page.

Both of my girls were excited to take the pledge! — They’re insanely picky eaters (even for 4-year-olds), so my fingers are crossed that they do end up eating their peas. Of course, I completely forgot to pick some up this week, so I’ll have to wait until next week to find out.

Coloring the peas!

The next page had an easy counting activity that required using the green “pea” pom poms, while the opposite page listed some simple ideas for incorporating peas into various meals and snacks.

Pea countin’.

Two more activities were individually packaged with all of their required materials.

Pea Pod Magnet

This cute craft included everything needed (except glue) to make your own little pea pod magnet. — A clothespin, sticker magnet, pipe cleaner, 3 pom poms, and 6 googly eyes.

I helped out with the curly “tendril”, but the girls assembled the rest.

We love our new pea friends!

Grow Pea Shoots

Time to grow some pea shoots! This kit included a packet of pea seeds and some cotton balls. You’d need to provide the container for “planting”.

Pouring out the pea seeds. These were required to soak in water overnight, which I didn’t realize at first. That said, we only got to show the first 2 steps in this review.

Next, we needed to place a layer of cotton balls inside our growing container. Once the peas had soaked overnight, we sprinkled them on top. The container is now sitting near a window, waiting to sprout.

Pea Necklace

Green string and a pink safety needle were provided to make a sugar snap pea necklace. Of course, since I forgot to buy peas this week, we’ll be making this at a later date.

Peas on Earth by Todd H. Doodler

My girls and I absolutely LOVED this book! It was packed with fun illustrations of fruits & veggies and plenty of silly “pea puns”. The last page featured a big pop-out which allowed you to make the peas “dance” when you moved the paper tab back and forth. Cuuute!

Kissing the carrots. — This kid is obsessed with carrots in all forms, yet still refuses to actually EAT them. :/

Makin’ peas dance.

Squeeze-A-Pea “Extrusion Bean” Keychain

How adorable is this little keychain?! (Don’t mind my chipped nail polish. #momnails ) It’s a plastic pea (edamame?) pod that you squeeze to reveal a tiny, slightly bewildered pea friend. Love it!

Kissing the lil’ pea. (Yes, it’s already attached to my keys. Ha!)

Recipes

Two kid-friendly recipes were also included. — Easy Pea-sy Pancakes and Crunchy Pea Snack. I’m not too sure about the pancakes, but we’ll definitely be giving the crunchy peas a try.

Lastly, there was a tasseled bookmark with a list of more pea-related kid’s books to check out.

My girls and I really enjoyed this first offering from Veggie Buds Club! The activities were perfect for their age group and we loved the included book and pea pod keychain. Of course, it would have been nice if I actually had peas on hand to try the recipes and see if the girls stayed true to their “pea pledge”, but I’ll find out for sure next week. Fingers crossed! — Remember, if you’d like to check out Veggie Buds Club for yourself, you can save $5 on your first month of any plan with coupon code “VEGGIE5“!
