Food Review: Gu Ma Jia Restaurant (姑妈家) CNY Dishes

Dear lovelies,

I am finally back on my blog! I took a break and went on a long holiday.

Now I am back, and I am going to share my review on the CNY dishes that I had at Gu Ma Jia!

This dish was cooked with generous portion of fish maw and other ingredients. The taste of the soup was very refreshing with tasty mushrooms.

Next, we had their 姑妈自制酱料白灼虾 (Steam Prawns with Gu Ma’s Home Made Sauce):

The prawns were fresh and succulent. The hand made sauces were perfect match for the prawn, giving the dish the extra brownie points.

Next dish we had was their 港蒸红斑 (Steamed Fish Red Grouper):

The fish was so fresh that it literally melt in the mouth. The soya sauce gave the fish an extra flavour but I would really prefer to have the fish meat as it is since it is so fresh.

人参五福炖鸡 (‘Ginseng Fortune Chicken’ - Double Boiled Chicken, Roasted Pork, Scallops, Sea Cucumber and Fish Maw with Ginseng in a Claypot):

This herbal chicken dish was a very nourishing dish and I enjoyed the soup very much. The chicken meat was also very tender and delicious.

夏果西兰花带子 (Broccoli with Macadamia Nuts & Fresh Scallop):

I love the taste of the roasted macadamia nuts and the fresh scallops in this dish.

干贝荷叶饭 (Steam Lotus Leaves Rice):

This dish was one of the best lotus rice I had as the rice had absorbed the fragrance of the lotus leaves  and with the seasoning added to the rice, it gave the dish more distinctive flavours.

白果芋泥 (Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts)

I am a lover of yam paste and I am sure that they used whole yam to make this dessert. The pumpkin added also gave the dessert a sweeter taste. I will definitely go back for more of this dessert.

My rating: 4/5
