Dave Granchi Obituary News: Beloved Resident Of Painesville, Ohio, Respected Softball Coach Dave Granchi Dies After Battle With Cancer

After a courageous 17 months fighting illness, 50-year-old coach, teacher, and mentor Dave Granchi passed away on January 27, 2024.

He was born to Anthony and Patricia Granchi in New York, NY. After earning his degree from St. John’s University, he started working as a coach in 1998. He was a baseball, basketball, and soccer coach at a number of schools and universities, including St. Francis College, Brooklyn College, and St. Joseph’s College.

Most recently, he served as St. Joseph’s College men’s basketball team’s head coach, helping the squad win multiple titles and honors.

Coach Dave Granchi was an inspirational and driven individual who imparted knowledge beyond the game to his players. In addition, he was a devoted son, brother, nephew, and spouse.

His parents, his aunt Mary Granchi, his two children, David and Jessica, as well as several other family members and friends, survive him. He was married to Jennifer Granchi for twenty-two years. It was his uncle, John Granchi, who passed away before him.

In addition to being a coach, teacher, and mentor, Dave Granchi was a basketball coach at multiple schools and universities.

In the past, he was a professional basketball player in Europe and at St. John’s University.
