Those of us who were lucky enough to be able to call Nathan Schroeder a friend have been overcome with sadness by the heartbreaking news that he will no longer be in our lives. Nathan was more than simply a buddy; he was a respected young man whose vibrant demeanor and endearing presence left a lasting impression on everyone he came into contact with.

His constant attendance at our church, where he fascinated us with his unearthly singing and found comfort in the company of our brothers, was evidence of his deep links to the Live Oak community.

Nathan was a conscientious individual who worked tirelessly for Kenny and Judy Dutruch, tending to their yard with unwavering zeal throughout the years.

It is untrue to claim that his devotion was limited to the time he devoted to church work. During these formative years, Nathan was affectionately referred to as “Singing Boy,” a nickname that mirrored his boundless pleasure for life. His voice would resound with pure excitement as he sang throughout the day, and as a result, the atmosphere would be transformed into one of song and hope.

Although Nathan’s abrupt passing has surely left a vacuum in our lives, everyone he had the honor of meeting during his time on earth will continue to hold his legacy dear. As his family and loved ones prepare to face the upcoming difficult days, we stand here in unison, expressing the sadness they are experiencing.

We will continue to pray for them and think of them at this trying time in the hopes that they may find comfort and strength in knowing that so many people care about them.
