David Strack Car Accident: In loving memory of Leonore Volunteer Firefighter Killed in Tragic Wednesday Crash.

40-year-old David J. Strack of Leonore, Illinois, died tragically as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident on Wednesday October 11, 2023.

Dave was born in Spring Valley on June 13, 1983 to Rodney and Rhonda (Milner) Strack. He obtained the rank of Sergeant in the United States Army and was stationed in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Camp Castle, Korea, and Oahu, Hawaii. He served in three deployments to Iraq where he served as a combat engineer focused on construction, demolition, bridge building, and land mines before being honorably discharged in 2011, his obituary said.

After the Army, Dave worked for Ottawa Barge Terminal, Dauber Company, AgView Fs, and Set Environmental Inc. where he specialized in advanced rescue and safety. Dave was also an active voluntary firefighter for the Leonore Volunteer Fire Department since July of 2011.
