Daniel Allsop, 38, was discovered outside the door to a McDonald’s restaurant in Blackpool, Lancashire, at 4.30 p.m. on Monday. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died accompanied by his family on Wednesday. An autopsy revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

A 29-year-old male with no established home was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday and remains in police custody. Daniel’s family has paid homage to him, saying he will be “dearly missed” by everyone who knew him.

“We have lost a son, a father, a brother, a grandson, an uncle, a nephew, and a cousin,” Lancashire Police said in a statement. He died quietly, surrounded by his family.  “He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”

Lancashire Police DCI Jill Johnston said it was an isolated occurrence and requested anyone with information to come forward. ‘My thoughts are very much with Daniel’s family during this tragic and terribly difficult time for them,’ she said.

This is a fast-moving investigation, and while we have made an arrest, our investigations remain open.’We believe Daniel was assaulted in broad daylight on Bethesda Road, in the centre of a busy city centre. “He would ask anyone who was in the area, perhaps on foot or in their vehicle or on public transport, who saw anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem to them, to contact us.”
