Francis Lee Obituary-Death News; 79-Year-Old Man City Professional Footballer, Francis Lee Passed Away After Battling Lung Cancer

A 79-year-old professional footballer for Man City passed away today. On Monday, October 2, 2023, early in the morning, Lee passed away after a protracted struggle with lung cancer.

Lee played 330 games for the team when he was there and scored 148 goals. Following his playing career, Lee was the club’s chairman for four years starting in 1994. The 79-year-old football star who lost his battle with cancer is mourned by Man City and the entire world.

Francis Henry Lee CBE played striker for England’s national team before retiring from the game. He performed from April 29, 1944, till his passing on October 2, 2023. Bolton Wanderers, Manchester City, Derby County, and the national team all had him on their squads.

His speed and tenacity helped him score nearly 200 goals throughout his career, and he earned League Championship medals with both Manchester City and Derby. He was inducted into the English Football Association Hall of Fame in 2010.

He acquired the moniker because his name always appears as Lee 1 (Pen) on the list of City goal scorers in the match results listings in the Sunday publications. He now holds the record for most penalties scored in a season in England. Allegations of diving then came to light.
