Flight instructor, 22-year-old Timothy McKellar Jr. of Custer, KY and the student pilot, 18-year-old Connor Quisenberry of Beavery Dam were pronounced dead at the scene of the Wednesday plane crash near Whitesville, Kentucky.

According to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, the flight departed the Bowling Green Regional Airport at approximately 10:55 p.m., just as a dangerous thunderstorm was brewing nearby.

McKellar Jr. and Quisenberry were taking part in a “touch and go” training flight Wednesday night from Bowling Green to Owensboro when a violent thunderstorm formed nearby, according to Ohio County authorities.

The aircraft crashed close to Whitesville, Kentucky, according to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, in a highly forested region.

On Thursday morning, search teams discovered the plane’s wreckage and two bodies.
