James Delikta Obituary – Motorcycle Accident: Mount Clemens man killed in early Wednesday crash in Lasalle Township.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal multi-vehicle crash in LaSalle Township early Wednesday.

According to Sheriff Troy Goodnough, the crash occurred on northbound I-75, north of S. Otter Creek Road, in LaSalle Township. The crash was reported on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 3:28 a.m.

In a preliminary investigation, it has been discovered that William W. Null, a 64-year-old resident of Toledo, Ohio, was driving a black 2017 Ford Escape in a northerly direction on I-75. The vehicle was situated in the left travel lane, specifically within a construction zone. In a startling turn of events, a collision occurred when an individual, who was in motion at the time, was unexpectedly struck from behind. The responsible party has been identified as James G. Delikta, a 46-year-old resident of Mount Clemens, Michigan. Delikta was operating a sleek black 2022 Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle at the time of the incident. In a dramatic turn of events, Mr Delikta found himself tumbling off his motorbike following a collision, ultimately landing in the left lane of travel. However, the situation took a further unfortunate twist when a red 2016 Ford Focus, driven by Joseph M. Kennedy, a 52-year-old resident of Toledo, Ohio, collided with Mr Delikta. In a dramatic turn of events, the 2022 Harley Davidson motorcycle has come to a halt, positioned in the middle of both northbound lanes, with its front facing towards the southbound direction. On the freeway’s shoulder, Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Null brought their vehicles to a halt.

In a tragic turn of events, Mr. Delikta has been pronounced deceased at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the crash. In a fortunate turn of events, both Mr. Null and Mr. Kennedy emerged from the incident unharmed. In both instances, it has been reported that both Mr. Null and Mr. Kennedy were wearing their safety belts. Mr. Delikta was observed donning a helmet.

According to reports, speed has been identified as a contributing factor.

At the scene, assistance was provided by members of the LaSalle Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance.

The crash is currently being investigated by Sergeant Brian Quinn and Deputy Sheriffs Alec Preadmore, Nicholas Burkhart, Jon Cregar, and Steven Warren from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division.
