What do we like about Passion.io over Kajabi?

  • Passion.io targets transformation coaches and brands, providing interactive content with a unique lesson type called sequences. The sequences include a timed interactive feature to help users practice sessions (workouts, exercises, yoga postures, etc.) and stay engaged. You can read the Passion review post to see more details.
  • It has a goal-tracking feature allows you to set up check-ins to keep your students accountable. Keeping a daily record of their progress and checking in daily can help them track their progress. Furthermore, they can see the progress of their fellow members, motivating them to accomplish more. There is no such feature in Kajabi.
  • Its community component supports group-based challenges where you can assign tasks for members to complete as a team. This creates a motivating learning environment. Kajabi lacks this type of challenge.
  • Both Passion and Kajabi allow you to custom-brand the apps by removing the logo. The former has an edge here, as you can completely white-label the apps to reflect your brand (this feature is available on higher plans costing $297/mo). (Note: Kajabi, in its recent update, released a custom branded app. It’s still in Beta testing).
  • If you need ready-made apps for your business, Passion has the Done for You service available on its Ultimate Plus plan. Kajabi is also working on this feature, and will be live soon.
  • Using Passion, you can create unlimited courses within a single app (on all plans). Kajabi, on the other hand, limits you to only three courses on its Basic plan ($149/mo). With the Growth plan ($199/mo), you can create 15 products. That’s it. There are no plans that offer unlimited products.

What do we like about Kajabi over Passion.io?

  • Kajabi has built-in live streaming and supports live lessons inside the courses. This makes conducting group coaching calls, one-to-one coaching sessions, or master classes easy. Passion lacks native live streaming, but it provides native integration with YouTube Live.
  • The marketing capabilities of Kajabi are superior to Passion. It has sales funnels, advanced automations, a blogging platform (for content marketing), email marketing (with custom templates), and so on. Furthermore, Kajabi is an all-in-one integrated platform, while Passion requires integration with third-party tools. Refer to my Kajabi review post to explore further.
  • It has a built-in affiliate program to motivate users to refer others and get rewarded with affiliate commissions for the referrals they bring in. You can set either product-specific commissions or affiliate-specific commissions.
  • You can customize Kajabi’s theme with its Pro plan ($399/mo). This is great for developers who want fully customized websites. Passion has no ability to do this.
  • Kajabi’s has an advanced community compared to Passion. Its recent acquisition of Vibely has boosted its community component significantly.
  • It now supports –
    • Rich member profiles
    • Points, leaderboards, badges
    • Live meetups
    • One-time challenges and recurring challenges (Unlike Passion, it doesn’t support group challenges).
    • Ambassadors (similar to Mighty Networks) and admins.
    • Etc
  • There is a built-in podcast feature on Kajabi that allows you to create private and public podcasts. You can automatically distribute them to podcast channels like Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, etc.
  • Kajabi introduced free AI tools to simplify the content creation process. It helps you create course outlines, lesson content, landing pages, sales pages, and more.
  • Kajabi has a dedicated website builder with over 30+ blocks available to design the pages. It has several pre-made themes as well. You have the flexibility to import your custom theme.

Common downsides

  • Both these tools lack course compliance features. Unlike LMS tools like Thinkific or Teachable, you don’t have options to enforce lesson order and video watch duration.
  • These are not suitable for academic course creation. They do not support random question banks or tests. They are aimed at marketers, professionals, and business experts.
  • Both don’t support physical product selling.

Latest product updates

Passion –

  • From the Passion mobile app, you can now add new courses and edit existing ones.
  • The app’s theme colors have unified for an improved user experience.
  • The video player has been redesigned with improved screen options and controls.

Kajabi –

  • It has introduced its own payment gateway called Kajabi Payments (It is still in the Beta phase).
  • Kajabi now supports branded apps, which you can customize to reflect your brand’s colors, logo, theme, etc. This enables you to reach out to a wider audience.
  • It has a Done for You service available where Kajabi builds and maintains the app.
  • It now supports Google Pay on Kajabi Payments for checkout.

Bottomline: For whom is Passion.io and Kajabi?

Passion.io is best suited for those who need feature-rich mobile apps and interactive video lessons for fitness, health, or lifestyle coaching. If you are focused on transformative coaching that involves challenges and accountability, you will love this platform.

On the other hand, Kajabi is ideal for advanced course creators who need more LMS features, an all-in-one platform for marketing, automation workflows, customizability, and a built-in affiliate program. It is more of an alternative to ClickFunnels.

For most people, unless you’re into transformational coaching, Kajabi is the best bet. However, if you’re into fitness, yoga, or into other niches where proactive participation from the students is required, then you may want to consider Passion.io.

I hope you found this post on Kajabi vs. Passion.io helpful.
