Featured images are the one that stands above the main content in the blog post. They are often wide and appealing. Some bloggers use these Featured Images also on the front page of their blog above or below the post titles.

Featured images are important, as they are on the top of blog posts and they are wide. Creating appealing featured images are important, as it may influence the readership of your posts.

When your blog posts are shared on social media sites like Facebook, in order for your posts to stand out of the crowd and get more clicks, you should use good eye-catching featured image in your blog post.

In this tutorial, I’m gonna explain how to create an attractive featured image for your blog post.

For an image to get previewed beautifully when you share a link on Facebook, your image should be at least 470px wide and 246px height. Again this all depends upon the design of your blog. For my theme, my featured images are 640 px wide and around 320 px height, and it works fine when sharing links on Facebook.

If you are using Yoast SEO plugin, then there’s an option to include Facebook image for your blog post, as shown in the screenshot.

The selected image will be the featured image when you share links on Facebook. Yoast recommends your Facebook image size be 1200 x 628px.

Let’s dive in.

The first step is to choose the best base image for your featured image. You could use sites like Pixabay, FreeImages, Unsplash and Picjumbo. The images you find in these sites are royalty free, are of high-quality, and free to edit and redistribute without any attribution.

The favorite on for me is Pixabay.
