Previously, to approach laptop territory, Microsoft launched the Surface Book, a representative of the Surface line. However, now Google officially unveils a true laptop called “the Surface Laptop.” It is said to feature not only a non-detachable 13.5” PixelSense display with touch and stylus support but also a 3:2 screen with 2,256 x 1,504p x resolution (201ppi).

What definitely arises your curiosity is that the cover of the backlit keyboard is made from Alcantara, a suede-like material. Currently, there are four color variants provided including Platinum, Burgundy, Cobalt Blue and Graphite Gold. Its weight is estimated at 1.25kg (equivalent to 2.76lbs), while it measures 14.5mm at its thickest point (and 9.9mm at its thinnest).

In spite of these highly portable dimensions as above, it is promising that the battery capability of the laptop can offer up to 14.5 hours of Netflix binging. According to Surface chief Panos Panay, the Microsoft Surface Laptop may be lighter than a Macbook Air but faster than a MacBook Pro.

Despite the fact that there is no USB-C, the company attempted to fit a singular full size USB 3.0 Port, called a mini DisplayPort. Another feature is its proprietary Surface port on the right and there is nothing on the back.
