June 2017 BookCase Club Review & Coupon

I know I promised you Dolls that I was going to work my way through all of the Book boxes, and I am, but I'd also like to share some favorites that I've previously featured as well. After all. Boxes grow and change (not literally, but you get the picture) with time and it's always fun to see what's new with them. This time, I'm sharing the June BookCase. Club!

If you aren't familiar, Bookcase.Club  is a monthly subscription box for lovers of literature. The cost is astoundingly affordable at $9.99 per month (plus $5 s+h) and includes two full length novels in the category of your choice: Teenage Dream (YA novels), Blind Date (Paranormal romance), Strange Worlds (sci-fi/fantasy), Thrill Seeker (suspense/thriller), Booking For Love (romance), & the Read To Me case (children's). Need extra incentive to try them out? Use coupon code Cratejoy at checkout for 10% off your first box!

I always tend to get the Teenage Dreams case which is the YA box. Yes, I'm a grown woman, but I find more joy in the YA category than I generally find in the others.

Included is a bookmark that features a brief description of each book you received in the month's box.

Newt's Emerald by Garth Nix --- Garth Nix has been one of my favorite writers since I picked up The Abhorsen Chronicles in the sixth grade. Here's a brief synopsis from Goodreads:

"On her eighteenth birthday, Lady Truthful, nicknamed “Newt,” will inherit her family’s treasure: the Newington Emerald. A dazzling heart-shaped gem, the Emerald also bestows its wearer with magical powers.

When the Emerald disappears one stormy night, Newt sets off to recover it. Her plan entails dressing up as a man, mustache included, as no well-bred young lady should be seen out and about on her own. While in disguise, Newt encounters the handsome but shrewd Major Harnett, who volunteers to help find the missing Emerald under the assumption that she is a man. Once she and her unsuspecting ally are caught up in a dangerous adventure that includes an evil sorceress, Newt realizes that something else is afoot: the beating of her heart.
"

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black --- You know, I picked this up in Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago and very nearly bought it, so I'm glad I waited now! Here's a brief synopsis from Goodreads:

"Children can have a cruel, absolute sense of justice. Children can kill a monster and feel quite proud of themselves. A girl can look at her brother and believe they’re destined to be a knight and a bard who battle evil. She can believe she’s found the thing she’s been made for.

Hazel lives with her brother, Ben, in the strange town of Fairfold where humans and fae exist side by side. The faeries’ seemingly harmless magic attracts tourists, but Hazel knows how dangerous they can be, and she knows how to stop them. Or she did, once.

At the center of it all, there is a glass coffin in the woods. It rests right on the ground and in it sleeps a boy with horns on his head and ears as pointed as knives. Hazel and Ben were both in love with him as children. The boy has slept there for generations, never waking.

Until one day, he does…

As the world turns upside down, Hazel tries to remember her years pretending to be a knight. But swept up in new love, shifting loyalties, and the fresh sting of betrayal, will it be enough?"

I've always really enjoyed this box and it's pretty obvious why. Two great books a month at an extremely affordable price. I've found some great books thanks to this box!
