Decreasing Candidate Dropoff by 94%

Talent Acquisition teams on the hunt for hard to find candidates are constantly looking to streamline the process of finding and engaging top talent.

We all know how frustrating it can be to apply for a job, and be asked too many questions about information that is already in our resume. It’s probably not surprising to most people that many candidates will simply stop filling out the Application.

We found one case study in particular that was very illuminating. This data was given to us by a staffing firm that follows our Whiteboard Wednesday series.

This firm was hiring for some tough roles: Java Engineers, Web Developers, Product Managers, and Scrum Masters. And, they were facing a major problem – 75% of job seekers weren’t even finishing the application.

So, they took their application from 14 questions down to 4 very simple ones: first name, last name, email, phone, and then asked them to attach their resume.

This change had drastic results. The candidate Dropoff rate went from 75% to just 4%, which is a decrease of nearly 95%!

If you’re doing something to decrease the candidate Dropoff Rate, we’d love to hear about it and perhaps feature the data in a case study. Give us a shout!
