After my previous experience with the peeling gel that didn’t impress me, I decided to revert back to a good ole’ physical exfoliator. Short of picking up a sheet of sandpaper (you have no idea how clogged my skin can get in this humid and hot climate). I recalled that I’d had good experiences with Origins’ Modern Friction Gentle Dermabrasion, so I decided to try this stick product.

The Packaging: A tube with a twist dispenser at the bottom, and a click cap on top.

The Scent: None.

The Application: Twist the bottom of the tube so the product rises from the top. Now the recommended application is to apply to a dry face gently in circular motions, and then add water to create lather and rinse. I find this a bit meh – there’s definitely some pulling of the skin. Instead, I prefer to just gently press wet hands to my face and then apply the stick.

The Verdict: The skin is left relatively smoother and softer. However, sorry pals at Origins – I’m so not recommending this item for a variety of reasons. First up, and most essentially, the stick never really dries out from each usage – the water/moisture just seeps deeper and deeper into the stick, so it just gets moooooshy. Like cookie dough but wetter, and mushier. It really doesn’t seem attractive. If I scrape off the mushy parts, they can still be used as a face scrub, in paste form. But I guess this totally goes against the entire stick-format of this item; they might as well have packaged it in a normal tube. I’m also not sure how “fresh” the paste is (considering it’s been moistened/soaked and left there since my last scrub session, say 3-5 days ago). I’m just gonna stick to Origins’ Modern Friction Gentle Dermabrasion instead.
